Abstract
Description
I - La PRESENTE INVENTION concerne le PROCEDE D'EXTRACTION à 1'ETAT
I - The PRESENT INVENTION relates to the PROCESS OF EXTRACTION to the STATE
SENSIBLY PURE ESSENTIAL OILS OF PLANT ORIGIN, WITHOUT THAT
THEIR CHEMICAL PROPERTIES ALTERED, BY COLD MACERATION, of
Flowers, Plants, Aromatic Plants, Herbs, Citrus Peels, Leaves (from which we obtain the GREATES
Vegetable Waxes |), all of these plants being used
FRESH, Fresh Rice, Wood, WITHOUT PRIOR GRINDING (when proceeding with a preliminary grinding, the impurities contained in the plants are entrained WITH and IN essence, disturbing these and altering its chemical properties).
On utilise un SOLVANT.II - The METHOD involved in the EXTRACTION PROCESS - object of the present invention - allows (in addition to extraction), CONCENTRATION and COLD DETERPENATION ESSENTIAL OILS (or ESSENCES) VEGE
RATES (plants as defined in TITLE I, Lines 4 to 7). SOLVENT is used.
It is necessary to know that ESSENCES, that are chemically defined under the CLASSIFICATION of ALCOHOLS, PHENOLS, ALDEHYDES, CETONES and those of ESTERS, are all very VOLATILE, very AL
LARGE to AIR, because they are not long in RESIGNIFIER (especially the species rich in terpenes) and PEU STABLES; it is very difficult, with the known extraction processes, to make the TOTAL SYNTHESIS OF
ECONOMICALLY, without AVILING the ODORANT PRINCIPLE, which is not the case with the PRESENT PROCESS OF EXTRACTION which, IT, preserves in its entirety the ODORANT PRINCIPLE of ESSENCES, besides the CONSERVATION of their chemical properties.
On obtient alors l'essence terpenée. Our EXTRACTION PROCESS allows SOLVENT RECOVERY; this is done by a SIMPLE DECANTATION operation of the SOLVENT, an EVAPORATOR is then used to REMOVE the last traces of the solvent. The terpenated essence is then obtained. Evaporation of the last traces of solvent allows the concentration of gasoline.
Our EXTRACTION PROCESS, ALSO, INCREASES the PERFORMANCE of
PRODUCTION of ESSENCES derived from plants (plants as defined in
TITLE I, Lines 4 to 7) of MORE THAN 25% by WEIGHT in addition to the RENDER
MENT that is usually obtained with the known extraction methods (percentage of variable increase depending on the plants used and the climatic conditions governing them); ESSENCES are collected RIGOROUSLY PURE after PURIFICATION.
For example, for 100 kg of aurantiaceae oil (citrus in general) by distillation in an alambic, one obtains (according to the collected fruits, the climatic conditions regulating them and according to the manufacturers) 5 kilog. DETERPENSE ESSENCE. Our process allows us to obtain (according to the fruits, the climatic conditions) 25% more weight in terms of the collected species.
Our EXTRACTION PROCESS does not involve any preliminary grinding work on plants (plants as defined in TITLE I,
Lines 4 to 7) that would allow the CELL FLASH. This hopping of the CELLS occurs during the cold MACERATION of SPON
TANEE during the refilling of the SOLVENT, without ANY REMEDIES TO THIRD AID.
ENIQUE de formule brute C10 H16 0, formule semi-développée (cl3)2 C CH - CH2 - CH2 - C (CH3) - CH - CHO).Indeed, the essence is located in very specific places of plants, in
- EPIDERMIC CELLS of PETALS (example: PINK)
- SECRET HAIR (example: MINT)
- INTERNAL SECRET CELLS (example: LAURIER)
- SECRET POCKETS (example: ORANGE ZESTE)
- SECRETE CHANNELS (example: PINS)
V - Our EXTRACTION PROCESS makes it possible to act by means of the SOLVENT used on the fresh vegetables, a PART of the VEGETABLE COLOR is
ABSORBED by the SOLVENT, the other PART remaining in the ESSENCE, the proportions being according to the nature of the essence: ALCOHOL or ALDEHYDES. Example for the essence of rose whose BODY ODORING PRINCI
PAL is an alcohol (phenylethyl alcohol = crude formula C8 H10 0> for semi-developed molecule C6 H5 - CH3 - CH (OH)) and therefore has the
Free hydroxyl radical and therefore has the property of absorbing more dye, which is not the case for lemon essence whose main ODORING BODY is an ALDEHYDE (CITRAL or ALDEHYDE DIETHYL
ENIQUE of formula C10 H16 0, semi-developed formula (cl3) 2 C CH - CH2 - CH2 - C (CH3) - CH - CHO).
VI - The solvent used is the ETHYL ETHER RECTIFIED of formula C4 H10 0. The ether employed in the perfumery industry requires a prior maceration of hot plants in this solvent.
The ethyl ether we use is used rectified, that is to say at a degree of purity that allows the almost instantaneous bursting of the cells of each plant. The boiling point of ETHYL ETHER
RECTIFIED is: 35 C
The SOLVENT DECANTATION operation and then the REMOVAL of the last traces of this solvent by means of the EVAPORATOR avoid, on the one hand DISTILLATION because ethyl ether is a very volatile body and distillation allows to lose, the simple decantation makes it possible to recover the solvent precisely without losing it, and secondly, the EMPLOYMENT of a
GAS CURRENT CARBONIC ACID to cause the last traces of the solvent; in fact, the oxygen contained in this gaseous stream of carbonic acid might oxidize the gasoline left as a residue; by evaporation, the gasoline is left stainless and perfectly concentrated.
Apart from the COLORANT, other IMPURITIES are contained in the essence, namely PECTICAL MATTER, COLORING MATERIAL, FATTY MATTER and more particularly HYDROCARBONS (non-oxygenated bodies).
After a rest period used to extract the materials contained in the gasoline, materials that gasoline holds in suspension, we proceed to the DISTILLATION IN THE EMPTY. As heat is an enemy of organic bodies, it is preferable to operate the distillation in a vacuum.
We obtain then a rigorously pure essence after deterpenation.
The numerous foreign matters (cf TITLE VI, lines 10 to 13 inclusive) contained in the essence drawn from the plants, communicate to it either an unpleasant aspect, or an ODOR which is not always very fine. These heavy hydrocarbons (or terpenes) have no aromatic value, are poorly soluble in diluted alcohol and in water, very exposed to rancidity and unnecessarily clutter the species in which they are found. Some species (bergamot, lavender, geranium, etc.) contain about 40 to 70%; others (lemon, orange, etc.) contain more than 90% of their weight.
Terpenes are characterized by low boiling point, low density, complete insolubility in diluted alcohol, low aroma and strong tendency to oxidize while resigning under the influence of light, air and water.
The terpenes have great similarities of odor and taste, so that they can not serve to determine the character of a species. This is how we find the | + | PINENE in the essences of therbentine of america, camphor, coriander, fennel, star anise, etc. etc. The | + | - LIMONENE in the essences of bergamot, fennel, in that of Scots pine, palmarosa, II PHELLANDRENE in essences of bay, badiane, pine, etc .... etc ....
The terpenes are not very aromatic and mask the characteristic aroma of the oxygenates they dilute.
Avec les essences déterpenées rien de semblable N'est à REDOUTER.They are essentially oxidizable, and the proportions in which they occur in ordinary essences are subject to considerable variation. These variations are due, for each crop, or for each source, the differences in hygrometry, illumination, etc. etc.
With the deterpenated essences nothing of the kind is to be REDUCED.
The results are always the same, even several years apart.
PARFUMS RELATIVEMENT PUISSANTS à FAIBLE DEGRE ALCOOLIQUE.One of the GREAT BENEFITS of EMPLOYING DETERPINE ESSENCES is
THEIR SOLUBILITY IN DILUTED ALCOHOL, which allows PREPARING
RELATIVELY POWERFUL PARFUMS WITH LOW ALCOHOLIC DEGREE.
In addition, all ESSENCES earn a lot in FINESSE ELIMINATION of HYDROGEN CARBIDE.
Example - The essence of geranium, even of good quality, will benefit very little from the addition of true ROSE ESSENCE, the herbaceous smell of geranium will remain PREDOMINANT. On the contrary, AN ALL SMALL
PROPORTION of the same essence of rose, in the essence of deterged geranium, will clearly communicate its particular aroma. The essence of Italian neroli has an unpleasant smell, it can not be mixed with the essence of neroli of France without diminishing it; but, when they are deterged, they may be mixed in equal parts, without giving rise to a diminution of the fineness of the aroma.
The essence of aspic, without terpene, is worth the essence of lavender; the Japanese mint essence, deterged, is worth the mint essence of ordinary america.
TITRE I, Lignes n 4 à n 7) pour l'OBTENTION
des ESSENCES. VIII - The PRESENT INVENTION aims to obtain essences derived from plants WITHOUT HEATING and without having recourse to the DISTILLATION in an ALAMBIC, according to the following OPERATIVE MODE
- 1 PHASE - COLD MACERATION in a SOLVENT, WITHOUT GRINDING
PREVIOUS VEGETALS (plants as defined in
TITLE I, Lines 4 to 7) for OBTAINING
ESSENCES.
tion alors des ESSENCES TERPENEES.- 2 PHASE - SOLVENT RECOVERY by SIMPLE OPERATION

traces of SOLVENT by means of an EVAPORATOR; obten
then TERPENE ESSENCES.
- 3. PHASE - DETERPENATION à FROID des ESSENCES OBTENUES
RECUPERATION des TERPENES ; SEPARATION du MELANGE
"ESSENCE VEGETALE-ALCOOL DILUE" au moyen d'un
APPORT-d'ACETATE DE POTASSE.- 3. PHASE - COLD DETERPENATION of ESSENCES OBTAINED
RECOVERY of TERPENES; SEPARATION of the MIXTURE
"VEGETABLE ESSENCE-ALCOHOL DILUTED" by means of a
POTASSE ACETATE SUPPORT.
RECUPERATION de la SOLUTION AYANT SERVI à EXTRAIRE
LES TERPENES.RECOVERING SOLUTION EXTRATING
THE TERPENES.
ELIMINATION des IMPURETES en général, par la
DISTILLATION DANS LE VIDE.ELIMINATION of IMPURITIES in general, by the
DISTILLATION IN THE EMPTY.
OBTENTION alors d'ESSENCES RIGOUREUSEMENT PURES ; RENDEMENT
ECONOMIQUE SUPERIEUR à PLUS DE 25% en POIDS.OBTAINING RIGOROUSLY PURE ESSENCES; PERFORMANCE
ECONOMIC EXCEEDING MORE THAN 25% BY WEIGHT.
On procède ensuite à la DETERPENATION à FROID dans l'alcool dilué des ESSENCES.EXAMPLE OF YIELD 10 kg of fresh but regular citrus limonum bark, whole or quartered, are macerated in the cold solvent. After 2 to 3 hours of MACERATION, the POCKETS
SECRETRICES of lemon peels FLASH of SPONTANEOUS WAY. Said lemon peels are left in contact with the solvent for a period of 3 to 4 days. After this time, the essence falls to the bottom of the container, the solvent, supernatant. When this operation
COLD MACERATION comes to an end, we proceed to an operation of
SIMPLE DECANTATION of the SOLVENT. SOLVENT and ESSENCE are then recovered
LEISSEE as RESIDU. The last traces of SOLVANT tending to communicate its smell to gasoline are ELIMINATED by EVAPORATION. Cold DETERPENATION is then carried out in the diluted alcohol of the ESSENCES.
Terpenes do not mix with diluted alcohol, split up.
The species are mixed with the diluted alcohol, the separation of the mixture ALCOHOL-GASOLATION by stirring this mixture with ACETATE POTASSE. Potash acetate goes into solution with the diluted alcohol and the gasoline splits. The solution used to extract the terpenes is recovered. After standing, the impurities contained in the gasoline (secondary impurities) are removed by DISTILLATION in the VACUUM. We then obtain the ESSENCE of LEMON
DETERPENEE, ie 650 grams of detergent gasoline for 10 kg and for
3 a kilog 65 gr. of detergent gasoline (70,57 cm
The rectified ethyl ether improves the extraction efficiency of the essences because it fulfills the functions of EXTRACTOR with TOTAL EXHAUSTION of the VEGETALS.
Tout le PRINCIPE GRAS en est retiré. All the PRINCIPE GRAS is removed.
The rectified ethyl ether also has the advantage of STABILIZING the progression of terpenes in gasoline because they, under the action of heating, increase their development leading to a very fast gasoline rancidement effect.
