Abstract

The invention relates to the field of pollution detection in an aqueous medium such as for example the detection of pollution of waterways or of waste, and more particularly the field of automatic devices used for this type of detection. According to the invention, an apparatus for automatically detecting pollution in an aqueous medium by testing microorganisms comprises means allowing the freeze-dried colony of the said microorganism to be reconstituted by mixing it in at least one container (14) with a reconstitutional liquid. The automatic apparatus comprises means (15) for turning the container (14) over, which means are capable of allowing the said colony to be mixed with the said reconstitutional liquid without causing even partial destruction of the said colony.
