Abstract

The invention relates to a rest for supporting the weight of a clarinet or oboe while it is being played. It is made up of a block [disc] (1) consisting of a mesh on which the bell of the musical instrument is placed. This block (1) is mounted on a graduated rod (2) which slides inside a main body (4) having a knurled locking knob (3) and ending in three feet (6), (7), (8). The device according to the invention is particularly intended to help young children hold a musical instrument.

Description

The present invention relates to a support intended to help young children to carry their clarinet or oboe while they are playing it.

The weight of these musical instruments rests entirely on the right thumb. This may cause harmful effects and leave sequelae in children whose growth is not sufficiently advanced, namely
1) On the medical level: - tendinitis of the right thumb.

2) Sur le plan de la technique instrumentale - torsion de la main droite entrainant une mauvaise position quasi irrémédiable de celle-ci. 2) In terms of instrumental technique - twisting of the right hand resulting in an almost irremediable bad position of the latter.

- angle formed by the instrument and the musician's body too closed
Part of these problems seems to have been solved by the invention of a device for holding a clarinet adaptable to a cord that is passed around the neck (patent no. 2,629,620, filed by Franck Bichon on March 31, 1988) .

However, the use of this accessory shows that the musician is not relieved at 100% of the weight of his instrument, the help offered to him is still insufficient. Indeed, the instrument always tends to approach the body of the user the problem of the angle is therefore still not resolved. In addition, the use of the cord encourages the musician to tilt his head back, which causes tension in the neck.

The device according to the invention overcomes these drawbacks. According to a first characteristic, it in fact comprises a tablet (1) on which the flag of the musical instrument is placed, thus supporting its entire weight. The user, having his relieved right thumb, can then place his hand correctly, more easily and without risk of trauma.

According to the particular embodiments - the tablet (1) can be circular, in perforated plastic so as to constitute a grid, in order to allow the flow of saliva and to prevent the sound of the instrument from being muffled during the emission of serious notes.

This shelf (1) is provided with flanges, as shown in FIGS. 1, 2 and 3, this in order to avoid a possible skidding of the flag of the instrument.

- enfin, cette tablette (1) est fixée sur la tige (2), laquelle coulisse verticalement dans le corps principal (4).- Finally, this shelf (1) is fixed to the rod (2), which slides vertically in the main body (4).

Thus, the teacher can determine and indicate to the student the adjustment he will have to make at home so that, depending on his size, the angle of the instrument relative to his body is correct.

- le bouton moleté (3), vissé dans le corps principal (4), permet de bloquer la tige graduée (2) dans la position qui correspond au réglage décrit ci-dessus.- the knurled button (3), screwed into the main body (4), makes it possible to block the graduated rod (2) in the position which corresponds to the adjustment described above.

- les trois pieds (6), (7),(8) vissés dans la partie inférieure (5) du corps principal (4) reposent sur le sol et assurent la stabilité de l'ensemble.- the three feet (6), (7), (8) screwed into the lower part (5) of the main body (4) rest on the ground and ensure the stability of the assembly.

Given the multitude of existing tripod systems, this is not limiting. However, for the adjustment of the graduated rod (2) to have any meaning, it should be noted that the lower part of the device, composed of the elements (3), (4), (5), (6), (7) and (8) must in no case be vertically adjustable.

Thus, in a variant shown in Figure 2, where the tripod is foldable, it is essential to provide a stop (9) so that in the unfolded position, the device is always at the same height.

According to another variant illustrated in Figure 3, a spring (10) may be provided between the upper end of the rod (2) and the shelf (1). This is intended to improve user comfort by giving the device slight lateral flexibility and vertical suspension.

According to a variant not illustrated, the graduated rod (2) can also be striated or notched, in order to offer the device better resistance to the pressure exerted on the tablet (1) by the weight of the musical instrument.

By way of nonlimiting example, the shelf (1) will have dimensions of the order of 20 cm in diameter if it is provided circular or 20 cm on the side if it is provided square. Likewise, the choice of the shape of this tablet is not limiting. In all cases, the edge will have a height of the order of 2 cm.

The main body (4) and the graduated rod (2) will have a length of the order of 50 cm each, so that the device can be adjustable, for example from 50 cm to 100 cm in height.

Of course, various modifications can be made by those skilled in the art to the support which has just been described only by way of nonlimiting examples without departing from the scope of the invention.

The device according to the invention is particularly intended to help young children, studying the clarinet or the oboe, to maintain their instrument.

However, when their growth allows them to dispense with the help provided by this support, they can use it to place within easy reach working utensils such as pencil, eraser, metronome, reeds, etc., it being understood that the described use of the device according to the invention is not restrictive.
