Abstract

The invention relates to a novel pharmaceutical agent capable of perfuming the gases emitted from the anus and/or neutralising their odour. This agent contains an active principle in the form of an odoriferous and/or neutralising substance, combined with a pharmaceutical dosage form capable of transporting it in the digestive tract and of releasing it in the colorectal portion. The active principle consists of a perfume and/or neutralising agent presented in a solid, for example powdery, liquid or gaseous form. The pharmaceutical dosage form consists of an enteric substance which is also resistant to the milieu of the small intestine, for buccal administration, or is of the suppository type for anal administration.  The present invention relates to an original pharmaceutical agent capable of perfuming and / or neutralizing the malodorous gases emitted by the anus.

 The emission of smelly gases is a frequent symptom, unpleasant for the patient himself as well as for those around him.

 While it is completely conventional to fight other smelly biological substances emitted by the human body (sweat, breath ...), by the use of odorous cosmetic substances, such as perfumes, deodorants, toothpastes .. smelly gases are the only ones not to be upset.

 The inconvenience induced for the patient can be sensitive or consist of abdominal discomfort, sometimes painful, linked to retention.

 As a general rule, the situation induced by the emission of gas from the anus is often badly perceived by the entourage; the gastroenterology practitioner is in particular very regularly confronted with this problem of bad odors.

 The digestive tract constantly contains gases from various sources, the origin of which can be either exogenous: linked to the swallowed ambient air and the gases located in certain foods, or endogenous: in connection with neutralization reactions H +, HC03- or intracolic fermentation processes of bacterial origin, or still linked to exchanges by diffusion between the interior medium and the digestive tract.

 The present invention aims to make odoriferous gas emissions from the anus, or to neutralize the smelly odors of these gases; this goal is pursued for therapeutic reasons, in some cases, but more often for reasons of comfort and well-being.

 To this end, the subject of the invention consists of a pharmaceutical agent comprising an active principle in the form of an odoriferous substance and / or capable of neutralizing gases, associated with a galenical form capable of transporting it in the digestive tract and of release in the recto-colonic portion, in order to make odorous gas emissions by the anus, or to neutralize the unpleasant odor of these gases.

 The active principle conveyed can be a substance of the perfume type, capable of pleasantly touching the sense of smell and the nature or composition of which varies according to the desired odoriferous effect (mint, rose, violet, etc.). It can also consist of a substance such as activated charcoal, capable of neutralizing the odors of the gases, that is to say preventing them from being smelly.

One can also consider an active principle consisting of a combination of perfume and activated charcoal. In addition, special attention will be paid to the use of active ingredients which are completely harmless to the individual.

 This odoriferous and / or neutralizing active principle can be in the form of a solid, liquid or even gaseous substrate, in particular depending on the dosage form serving as a vehicle.

 The pharmaceutical agent can be introduced into the digestive tract through the mouth; a suppository form is also a possible route of introduction.

 For an administration by the buccal route, it is necessary to provide a galenic form gastro and greoresistant, able not to be degraded in the digestive lumen by the digestive juices: gastric, pancreatic and intestinal, nor by bile. This dosage form disintegrates at the colonic or rectocolic portion to allow the release of the active principle in the usual gas formation zone.

 Galenical forms of this type are known, the composition of which is based on acrylic resin; these late disintegration dosage forms at the colonic level are for example used to treat inflammatory conditions of the digestive tract.

 Such an intestinal vehicle can be in the form of granules, microgranules or tablets and in this case it surrounds the active principle; it can also be in the form of a capsule or capsule 1, containing the active principle 2, as shown, in section, in the appended figure.

 Of course, any resistant gastro and small galenic form, the composition of which allows the release of the active principle in the rectocolic portion of the intestine can be used. The amount of active ingredient and its concentration in the pharmaceutical agent are studied so as to obtain a significant effect for the inhibition and the masking of bad odors linked to the emission of anal gases.
The pharmaceutical agent according to the invention can be used by humans, but also by animals, if the need arises. For patients with this type of problem chronically, its use will be recommended on a regular basis; in other cases it can advantageously be used in combination with certain types of power supply particularly generating smelly gas emissions.

 In addition to its application to perfume and / or neutralize the gases emitted by the anus, this product is also likely to have a positive influence on the odors of the stools.

 This new and original concept of a galenic form conveying an odoriferous or neutralizing substance capable of perfuming or neutralizing the gases emitted by the anus, can improve the individual quality of life of certain patients bothered by these smelly gases and, by improving their functional digestive status, find an interesting place in their digestive pathology, particularly functional.
