Abstract

Obstacle devices especially for show jumping competitions, consisting of two posts or stanchions (1) which retain a removable horizontal bar (2) or a plurality of bars at different heights, the ends of said bars (2) freely resting on a support element or retaining lug (7) capable of being displaced along said posts. The device of the invention is unusual in that said posts have a hollow profile (3) equipped with a longitudinal slot (6), said support element (7) consisting of two members, an initial member (7a) slidingly lodged in said profile (3) and a second member (7b) projecting across said slot (6) and means for locking said support element (7) at different levels of said profile (3).

Claims

Device for sporting obstacle clearance events, in particular for horse racing, consisting of two uprights or chandeliers (1) intended to retain a removable horizontal bar (2) at different determined heights, the ends of said bar resting freely on a support piece or cleat (7) which can be moved along said uprights, characterized in that said uprights have a hollow profile (3) provided with a longitudinal slot (6), said support piece (7) consisting of two elements, a first element (7a) slidably housed in said profile (3), a second element (7b) projecting through said slot (6), and means for immobilizing said support piece (7) at different determined levels of said profile (3).

2. Device according to Claim 1, characterized in that the above means for immobilizing said support piece (7) at different determined levels, are constituted by notches (10, 11, ..., 26) of said profile (3) .

3. Device according to Claim 2, characterized in that said notches (10, 11, ..., 26) are arranged inside said profile (3) opposite the above-mentioned slot (6), so that that the first element (7a) of the said support piece (7) can be engaged in one or the other of said notches.

4. Device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the first element (7a) of the said support piece (7) has a substantially prismatic profile, the second element (7b) being formed by an arm constituting a extension of said first element.

5. Device according to Claim 4, characterized in that one of the faces "'(7'a) of said first element (7a), called" anterior ", has a portion parallel to the walls of said profile, the opposite face (7 "a), called" posterior ", forming an acute angle with the lower base of said element.
