Abstract

The present invention relates to an electrical locking and unlocking device utilising an interruption to the power which, in addition to its familiar use as an electric lock, can also and more especially be fitted to emergency exit doors as a means of operating same. All that is required is that the power be interrupted, either by fire detection equipment, or by any other alarm, or simply by a watchman, for the electromagnet (1) to cease its retaining action. The bolt (3), which is sloped on both sides, then slides along its strike and retracts out of the way when the door is pushed, allowing it to be opened without difficulty. On the inner surface of the bolt is a pin (5) which engages in the slot of a recess cut into a plate (2) mounted on the top rotary part of the magnet (1).
