Abstract

The invention relates to a chest, protected against freezing, for a water meter. It consists of a body made from polyvinyl chloride or glass fibre (1) exhibiting the water meter (2), its stopcock and the bleed tap. The door of the chest acts as a support for fastening the insulating plug (8, 9) facing the meter, the said plug coming out when the door is opened for reading the meter and other operations. A plug (7) insulates the front face of the meter. An insulating wall or half-shell made of expanded polystyrene 100 mm thick is fixed to the bottom of the chest behind the meter. The same wall at the front of the meter is removable for work on the meter. Of course, the expanded polystyrene may be replaced by a material with greater insulation capabilities, if required.
