Abstract

Fire-resistant electrical cables comprising individual conductors surrounded with an insulation made of crosslinked or vulcanised polymer, possibly a glass-silk tape surrounding the assembly of insulated conductors, and an external sheath. Its insulation contains, based on 100 parts by weight of polymer, from 50 to 75 parts of zinc borate, from 30 to 105 parts of calcined kaolin, from 1 to 1.5 parts of a coupling agent for coupling between the polymer and the mineral filler or fillers, formed by vinyltrimethoxyethoxysilane or a corresponding molar quantity of a vinyltetraalkoxysilane, 2 to 3 parts of a crosslinking agent formed by dicumyl peroxide or a corresponding molar quantity of another organic peroxide, approximately 1.5 parts of a crosslinking activator formed by trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate or a corresponding molar quantity of another alkyl acrylate, 1 to 2 parts of an antioxidant formed by polymerised dihydrotrimethylquinoline or a corresponding molar quantity of another amine, and 10 to 20 parts of a paraffinic plasticiser.
