Abstract

Description

The intervention concerns a saddle cloth with a central part

  cooperating with the back of the horse, and on either side of said part two side panels covering the sides of the horse and arranged under the quarters of the saddle, the axis of symmetry of the mat being arranged along the spinal axis. We know from patent US 3,323,287 a saddle cloth comprising a central part cooperating with the horse's back and having, on either side of said part, two lateral panels cooperating with the sides of the horse and arranged under the quarters of saddle.   The ventilation of the horse's back is ensured by the quality of the material used

  for the carpet and the bead surrounding it.

  Maintaining the carpet by its bead is only effective for longitudinal movements, the control of lateral movements is less well controlled and there is a rotation of the rear of the carpet which is

  poorly maintained by the saddle due to its rear release.

  In addition, it is not recommended to use the tourniquet as a support, even for the mat because the inevitable friction on this part of the horse causes overheating which can cause ulceration. This

  for example, by a piece of leather of suitable shape.

  The object of the invention is to provide a saddle cloth not only eliminating the longitudinal movement of the mat but also lateral or rotational displacements and possibly allowing a

good ventilation of the horse's back.

  The saddle cloth, according to the invention, is remarkable in that it comprises along the axis of longitudinal symmetry a rib directed towards the outside, formed of a flexible material and capable of cooperating with

  the gutter defined by the saddle panels.

  The explanations and figures given below by way of example will make it possible to understand how the invention can be implemented. Figure 1 is a cross-sectional view of a saddle placed

  on a carpet according to the invention.

  Figure 2 is a perspective view of a first form of

  production of a saddle pad according to the invention.

creation of a saddle pad.

  Figure 4 is a perspective view of a third form of

  A saddle cloth generally has three parts: a central part resting on the horse's back and on which rest the saddle panels and two side panels partially covering

  flanks and protecting them from direct contact with false neighborhoods.

  Generally the carpet has a symmetrical shape with respect to a longitudinal axis which, when saddled, is arranged along the spinal axis of the horse. The axis of the carpet is materialized, in most cases, by a seam joining the two strips constituting the carpet. This seam is made necessary due to the shape given to the carpet to follow

  the anatomical curve of the horse's back.

  As previously mentioned, the carpet tends to

  move during horse work and currently, the solutions pro-

  posed could only result in preventing the carpet from moving for a long time

  According to a first embodiment shown (Fig 1 & 2), the saddle pad 4 has, along its longitudinal axis of symmetry XX ', a rib 5, directed towards the outside of the mat, capable of cooperating

  with the gutter 2 defined by the panels 3 of the saddle.

  This rib is preferably made of a flexible material such

  that, for example, padding, cellular elastomeric material, etc.

  This material can be fixed on the surface of the carpet or be maintained

  in at least one longitudinal pocket.

  The dimensions of this rib are determined so as to

  lO at least partially occupy the gutter.

  According to a second embodiment, shown in Fig 3, the rib is formed by two beads 6 and 7 arranged parallel to

  the axis of symmetry, so that the mat can fold along said axis.

  When the carpet is placed on the back of the horse and the saddle is added, the support of the panels causes the straightening of the beads which then form a hollow rib coming to be placed between said panels. This device has the advantage of providing a longitudinal passage along

  of the spine of the horse which is thus ventilated.

  The same remarks regarding materials and dimensions as in

  the previous device applies to this realization.

  According to a third embodiment, the rib consists of the convex part 8 of a hollow section 9 incorporated along the axis of

symmetry of the carpet.

  This profile is, for example, in section in the form of a U whose concavity is turned towards the inside of the mat, that is to say

towards the horse's back.

  The fabric forming or covering the carpet is fixedly attached to the inside of the profile, so as to ensure a free ventilation passage. As in the previous embodiments, the rib is formed,

  for example, by a flexible cellular elastomer.

  To obtain a mat comprising shock absorbers and in order to simplify its manufacture, the longitudinal edges 10, 11, forming the base of the rib or profile, integral with the mat, are extended on or in the mat by damping plates 12, 13. These plates can be an integral part of the beads or profiles forming the rib. The attachment of both the elements forming the rib and of the profile or profiles with the carpet can be obtained by any known means, for example, gluing, sewing, holding in pockets, etc., on or in the carpet, the latter being constituted conventionally one or more

fabric thicknesses.

  The carpets, according to the embodiments previously described,

  include holding means preventing longitudinal movement.

  These means are for example formed: of a button 14 (Fig 2) on each of the panels, which bears against the false quarters and on which the cover is possibly hung: - a strap 15 (Fig 3) cooperating with a loop of the saddle, - of a bead as known from patent US 3 323 287, - of a collar 16 (Fig 4) formed by cutting and laminating part of the profile and which maintains the freedom of the withers

  while being maintained by the release of the saddle knob.

  In all of the embodiments described, and in particular in those with a hollow rib, there is an automatic de-scalling because the rib tends to lodge by itself in the saddle gutter by releasing the part of the carpet which is conventionally in contact

  with the horse's spine.

Claims (8)

  1) Saddle pad, comprising a central part cooperating with the back   of the horse, and on either side of said part two side panels overlapping   vrant the sides of the horse and arranged under the quarters of the saddle, the axis of symmetry of the carpet being arranged along the spinal axis, characterized in that it comprises along the longitudinal axis of symmetry a rib (5) directed towards the outside, formed of a flexible material and capable of cooperating with   the gutter (2) defined by the panels (3) of the saddle.   2) Saddle pad, according to claim 1, characterized in that said rib (5) is formed by two beads (6,7) longitudinal parallel to   the longitudinal axis of symmetry (XX ') of the carpet.   3) Saddle pad, according to claim 1, characterized in that said rib is formed by the convex part (8) -d'un profile (9) incorporated according the axis of symmetry of the carpet.   4) Saddle pad according to claim 3, characterized in that the profile (9) has in section a U-shape whose concavity is turned towards the inside of the carpet.   ) Saddle pad according to one of the preceding claims, characterized   in that the longitudinal edges (10, 11) forming the base of the rib, integral with the carpet, are extended on or in the carpet by plates depreciation (12, 13).   6) Saddle pad, according to claim 5, said shock absorbing plates   cement (12, 13) are integral with the edges of the base of the rib.   7) Saddle pad, according to one of the preceding claims, characterized   in that the front edges carry holding means which bear at least partially on the edges of the saddle quarters and which may serve   fixing for a saddle cover.   8) Saddle pad according to claim 7, characterized in that the holding means are formed by a bead portion provided on the front edge of the mat.   9) Saddle pad according to claim 7, characterized in that the holding means are formed by a collar (16) formed by cutting and / or   against gluing of a section of profile.   ) Saddle pad according to claim 7, characterized in that the holding means are formed by a button (14) fixed on each of the sides of the carpet.
