Abstract

In the use position the seat of this armchair is supported at the front on one or two struts 5 whose lower ends pivot on the base of the leg(s) 1 of the chair, while their upper ends carry a transverse member 7 capable of displacement inside the seat cushion. The surface on which this cushion is supported is formed by one or more inextensible straps 9 slung between the rear bar 4 on which the seat pivots and the transverse member 7 at the front of the seat. Accompanying these straps are elastic tension means 10 also attached to the rear pivot bar 4 and to this transverse member 7, so tending to return the seat to its raised position out of the way. Thus the raising of the seat is achieved by very simple means.
