Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a seat for young children, removable in a vehicle, and known so that during an accident, the child's head, and more precisely, its cervical vertebrae are protected.
Removable seats have made considerable progress for many years, particularly with regard to their solidity and their attachment to car seats.
Currently, there are two forms of child seats
- The first, the most common: are attached to the car seat, in the direction of travel of the vehicle.
allons le montrer bientôt, ( il est à noter que seul ce type de est accepté en Suede ).- The second ones are fixed in the opposite direction of the vehicle, which represents a considerable improvement from the point of view of the safety of the child, as we
will show it soon, (it should be noted that only this type of is accepted in Sweden).
These two types of seat have very serious disadvantages from the point of view of safety, and especially those of the first type, because during an accident, or even brutal braking, the head of the child is thrown in before, the rest of the body remaining attached to the seat. So that the weight of the head of the child maintained, at this age by fragile bones and muscles, causes tensions and subsequently alterations of the spinal cord. These alterations lead to irreversible paralysis or even death.
Naturally, the seats installed opposite to the direction of travel of the vehicle are effective in the event of a frontal impact, but have the same drawback in the event of an impact coming from the rear. From a comfort point of view, putting the seats in front of the car seat prevents the child from looking out, so that this type of seat is poorly supported by children prone to seasickness, which makes this type of unusable seat.
The device according to the invention eliminates these drawbacks.
In a preferred embodiment, the seat is not installed in the direction of travel of the vehicle, but perpendicular to the axis of the direction of travel of the vehicle, the child's head entering in this case at the head protected by two pillows
These "pillows", while leaving a freedom of movement to the head of the child, prevents it from going forward or back under the effect of a shock.
Figure "A" in the appendix represents the plan seen from the top of the passenger compartment of a running car (1), the rear (2) washing (3), the direction of travel of the vehicle (4), the seats front (5), the rear seat (6), the removable seat (7) attached to the car seat, and (8) the toddler strapped to the seat. The position of the seat on the right has two advantages: The driver places on the left (steering wheel (10)), can see the child on the right; on the other hand, during the loading and unloading of the seat, the person carrying out this operation is on the sidewalk side. The seat being designed to be installed on the right or on the left
, the child looking either -interior of the vehicle or directly through the window, the device can be used in countries where driving is on the left The location of the pillows is shown in (9), the Figure "B3" shows a view of the seat in the direction of travel of the vehicle (1) and front (2), the location of the child being shown in dotted lines.
In another embodiment, the seat is arranged as in Figure "A", or arranged in the direction of travel of the vehicle, as for almost all seats currently built; But in both cases, the seat consists of two parts: A fixed part attached to the vehicle seat, and a movable shell containing the child fixed by means of straps.
The advantage of this system being that, in the event of a frontal impact, the movable shell part turns on a pre-established axis and direction so as to protect the head of the child.
Two variants are possible, depending on * as we have seen, the arrangement of the child's seat.
First case: The child is arranged as in figure "A" and the seat, in this case is presented according to figure "B1" & "B2".
The figure "B1" represents the child (6) attached to the movable shell, and the head of the child (4) protected by the pillows (5) the movable part, the shell can turn in the event of brutal braking or d '' an accident on an axis (1), in a slowed down or braked manner. (2) shows the direction of travel of the vehicle. Figure "B2" shows what happens during an impact or hard braking. The integral shell of the child (6) is detached from the fixed part (3) by an angleoX and a translation (7) in the direction of travel. The result of this movement being that the child's head (4) remains stuck in the "pillows" part of the movable shell. The transition from situation "B1" to "B2" being braked but reversible, the seat returning to its initial position "B1" after the impact. The angle 9 (varies from 0 to 90 '; the translation (7) can vary from 0 to a few centimeters.
Second case: The child is positioned in the direction of travel of the vehicle, and in this case the child's seat is in the form of the figure "Cl" & "C2" in the appendix.
Figure "C1" shows the seat according to the invention; In (1), the vehicle seat, in (2) the fixed part of the seat attached to the seat, the movable shell (3), on which the child (4) is strapped; Figure "C2" shows the displacement of the shell during a frontal impact. The direction of travel of the vehicle is shown by the arrow (6); The movable shell (3) turns on the axis (7) of an angle α . An optional weight (5) promotes the displacement of the movable shell during the impact by lowering the center of gravity (c) relative to the axis of rotation (7).
