Abstract

The shovel according to the invention is remarkable in that the handle 2 is mounted relative to the part 1 forming a receptacle while being able to be retracted inside said part in combination with the arrangements presented by said handle.

  Excavator for the collection of dust in particular.

  The invention relates to the technical sector of household items, particularly domestic cleaning. In a well-known manner, a shovel essentially comprises a part which acts as a

  receptacle for receiving sweeps, dust and others.

  This receptacle portion is equipped with a grip handle.

  The invention relates to shovels of the type that are equipped with a gripping handle of sufficient length being arranged vertically to avoid bending down. It is understood that the length and position of the handle significantly increase the size of the excavator which poses significant problems for its transport and its

storage.

  It has been proposed to mount the handle with angular orientation capability relative to the receptacle portion of

  so as to be able to fold said part against the handle.

  This provision emerges, for example, from the teaching of

  French patent N 1.449.815 and European 0.156.527.

  However, the result obtained is not satisfactory because the quasi-totality of the length of the handle, after angular folding, remains in overflow of the

receptacle part.

  The aim of the invention is to remedy these

  disadvantages in a simple and effective way.

  To solve the problem of minimizing the bulk of the excavator for its transport and storage in sales places and usual places of storage, the shovel is remarkable in that the handle is mounted relative to the container portion being able to be retracted inside said part in combination

  with arrangements that has said handle.

  Advantageously, the problem is solved in that 2 - the handle is mounted with angular orientation capacity relative to the receptacle portion to be folded towards said portion, while the arrangements of said handle are able to make it telescopic to vary its length from a reduced length to a retracted position, up to a normal length in a vertical position or

  substantially vertical use.

  These provisions also make it possible to reduce at will the length of the handle to allow easy emptying the pele in opposition to known excavators where the handle, given its height, can abut against

  partitions or other surrounding objects.

  To solve the problem of making the handle telescopic, it is formed of several tubes sliding between them relative to a first tube fitted in a connecting head with a gripping portion of the receptacle. In order to solve the problem poses the possibility of being able to fold down the rake angularly, in the folded position in particular within the receptacle portion of the shovel, said handle is mounted on the hollow gripping portion of the receptacle in an articulated manner to occupy at least two orthogonal or substantially orthogonal positions, corresponding either to the vertical position of use, or to the position folded back to

  inside the receptacle for storage.

  The invention is described below in more detail with the aid of the accompanying drawings in which: FIG. 1 is a perspective view illustrating an exemplary embodiment of a shovel according to the invention,

  In order to make the object of the invention more concrete, it is now described in a nonlimiting manner in

  referring to the exemplary embodiments of the figures of the drawings.

  One of the features of the invention lies in the fact that the shovel handle must be retracted into the non-use position inside the receptacle portion in order to significantly reduce its size. For this, the shovel which comprises a portion (1) forming a receptacle, is arranged at its gripping end (la) to receive the handle (2) with angular orientation capacity relative to the receptacle (1) to be folded into direction of the front end of collection (lb) of the receptacle, is arranged vertically or so

  substantially vertical relative to said receptacle.

  On the other hand, the handle (2) is constituted such that its length can vary between a reduced dimension in the retracted position so that its free end does not exceed the volume of the receptacle, and a normal dimension of use. Various means can be used to obtain the orientation of the handle and its variation in length. Some examples of embodiments have been illustrated without limitation

in the figures of the drawings.

  Regarding the angular orientation of the handle, and as shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3, the hollow grip portion (la) may have on its two spaced walls two orifices (lc) in which are engaged by elastic spacing walls, two trunnions (3a) formed diametrically opposite on a cylindrical head <3) forming the foot of the handle. In this case, the hinge formed is free, the vertical position of use is given by pressing the head (3) against a transverse wall (1d) of the gripping portion (1a), while in the folded position, the handle rests on a raised bottom (the) of said part (la)

  or directly on the front end of the receptacle (1).

  According to another embodiment illustrated in FIG. 7, the angular orientation of the handle is obtained by a hinge device which comprises on each wall of the part (la), a circular opening (lf) with along the vertical axis (x - x) and along a horizontal axis or close to the horizontal (y - y), arcuate impressions (lg) intended to receive two semicircular bearings (3b) formed diametrically opposite on the cylindrical head ( 3), said doors being extended by a retaining heel (3c) after elastic engagement in the openings (if). We understand that in this case, there is indexing of the handle in the

  use and storage positions.

  According to another embodiment illustrated in Figure 8, the angular orientation of the handle is achieved by a hinge device with locking in vertical position of use. For this purpose, the walls of the part (la) have vertical lights (1h) in which can slide an axis (4) integral with the head (3) and terminated at each end by buttons (5). In upright use, the handle is pushed down to be -5-- inserted between the transverse wall <(ld) and the curved rear profile (li) of said portion (la). To fold the handle inside the receptacle, just pull on the handle (arrow F1) until the axis (4) is at the top of the light allowing the pivoting of the handle. The length variation of the handle is obtained by its telescopic structure with several tubes. Figures 4, 5 and 6 show three non-limiting embodiments of the handle. In Figure 4, we see an embodiment according to which a first tube (2a) with upper flange (2al) is fitted into the head <3>. A second tube (2b) is slidably engaged on the tube (2a) until it stops against the head (3), this tube has an upper flange (2bl) and a lower bearing surface (2b2) for sliding. This tube is slightly shorter than the first. A third tube (2c) is slidably engaged around the second, this tube being of an intermediate length between the first and third and has a lower sliding range (2cl). A cap (6) is then secured to the third tube. By pulling on this third tube, onr. can thus, by the play of the flanges and sliding surfaces, bring the handle to a normal length of use, of the order of 70 cm, while in the folded position the handle has a length substantially

equal to that of the receptacle.

  According to the embodiment illustrated in FIG. 5, the tubes are of decreasing diameters from bottom to top and they slide one into the other by bearings (2d) equipped with O-rings (7>, with stop at the end of the stroke against

internal collars (2nd).

  According to FIG. 6, the tubes are also of decreasing diameters and their sliding is limited by jamming the ends formed with internal flares.

  sweepings can remain in the rear area.

  Finally, on a part of the belt of the receptacle, serrations (lij) are provided to serve as a comb of

cleaning the broom.

  The advantages are apparent from the description. We

  underlines again, the reduced size of the shovel with its handle folded down and reduced in length, the ease of emptying the shovel by reducing the length of the handle avoiding it abuts against an object or a surface located above the container to

garbage.
