Abstract

The invention relates to a method for enabling a portable object including credit information such as a memory card. The method comprises the application to said object of biometric information concerning the holder for whom it is intended, storing in the portable object the credit amount corresponding to a payment effected by the user, placing said object in a reading device capable of reading said biometric information applied to the card and the corresponding information relating to the holder and comparing both sets of information, and enabling the portable object if the two sets of information match.
