Abstract

This support 3, made of synthetic material, allows the attachment of a planter 1 to the handrail 4 of a balcony balustrade 2. The main body 5 of the support 3 comprises an upright 9, provided at its lower part with a bracket 10 supporting the weight of the planter 1. At its upper part, the upright 9 is provided with two superimposed horizontal arms 11, 12, interconnected by a vertical bar 6 which is removable and adjustable in position. The handrail 4 is thus entwined by the upper part of the upright 9, the two arms 11, 12 and the bar 6, with the possibility of adjustment according to the width D of the handrail 4.

A planter is an elongated tray or receptacle in which flowers or other ornamental plants are grown and used either inside an apartment or on a balcony or terrace. In the case of a balcony planter, to which the invention is interested, the planter is placed against the balustrade of the balcony,

  and she is hooked to the handrail.

  The attachment of a balcony planter to a handrail handrail is usually made by metal devices, including iron. These fixtures oxidize and become dull due to exposure to outdoor air and weather. Moreover, the current metal devices require bodies such as screws and nuts,

  for an adjustable and removable fixing.

  The present invention aims to eliminate these disadvantages, by providing a balcony planter holder that is simple to use, requiring no screws or nuts, while being easily adaptable to various sizes of handrails and planters to ensure in all case a stable fixation, and which is achievable in a material whose quality

  and the appearance does not degrade in time.

  For this purpose, the balcony planter support, object of the invention, is made of synthetic material and carries, essentially, a substantially vertical amount provided, towards its lower part, a console facing forward and provided for support the weight of the planter, and to its upper part, two arms attached to the upright, substantially horizontal and facing rearward, which are adapted to be interconnected by a vertical bar removable and adjustable in position at a distance more or less of the amount, so that the upper part of the amount, the two arms and the bar can embrace

  the handrail of a balcony railing.

  Thus is carried a planter holder, which easily and securely attaches to a railing by hugging the handrail thereof, the position adjustment of the bar for adapting to various widths of handrails. Advantageously, the two horizontal arms have toothed faces, and the vertical bar is pierced with two openings intended to be traversed respectively by the two

  arm, the edges of these openings clinging to the notches of the corresponding arms. The number and pitch of these notches determine the possibilities

  position adjustment of the bar.

  Preferably, the planter support object of the invention further comprises, towards its lower part, a substantially horizontal strip and turned towards the rear, which is mounted adjustable in position in the front-back direction relative to the amount, and has, at its

  rear end, a cleat designed to bear against the railing.

  Thanks to this slider provided with a cleat, the support is always maintained plumb. For holding and adjusting the position of the strip, there may be a series of openings distributed along the length of this strip, while the amount comprises at its lower end, at least two retaining hooks intended to be engaged in some openings, appropriately chosen, the ruler. The cleat secured to this slider advantageously has a bearing face whose horizontal dimension, measured transversely to the strip, is greater than the interval usually separating the bars of a balcony railing, which gives the certainty that, in the case of a railing bar, the cleat will

  always support against at least one bar.

  According to another characteristic of the invention, the console carries a movable stop, adjustable in position in the front-rear direction, and provided to retain the front part of the planter, while allowing adjustment of the support depending on the width of the the gardener. This stop may be carried by a horizontal strip provided with a series of openings distributed over its length, while the console comprises at least two retaining hooks intended to be engaged in certain openings, suitably

chosen, from this slider.

  The amount can still include on its front face, and at different levels, hooks provided for the retention of the rear part of the planter, in the case of a planter with a rim at its top. The heights of planters being normalized, it will be easy to predict these hooks at suitable heights, compared to

console level.

  In its most complete embodiment, the planter support object of the invention consists only of four distinct parts, namely: a first part, or main body, constituted by the upright, the console and the two arms - a second piece constituted by the bar - a third piece constituted by the strip with the support cleat - a fourth piece formed by the stop secured to another strip. These four pieces are realizable in molded synthetic material, with all their peculiarities such as hooks and various openings. The chosen material provides the necessary elasticity, in particular for the attachment of the bar to the notches of the two arms, and this material retains its original quality and appearance for a period that can be

very long.

  As shown in Figure 1, the invention relates generally to the attachment of a planter 1, having the form of an elongated tray, to a balcony railing 2. The attachment of the planter 1 is ensured at means of two supports 3, which are fixed to the handrail 4 of the railing 2 and which support this planter 1. The specific object of the invention is constituted by the support 3, shown in more detail in FIGS.

  This balcony planter support 3 consists of four molded plastic parts, namely: a main body 5, a bar 6, a first strip 7 and a second strip 8, these four

  parts clearly distinguishable in Figure 2.

  The main body 5 comprises an amount 9, substantially vertical. Towards its lower part, the upright 9 is provided with a console 10 turned towards the front. Towards its upper part, the same upright 9 is provided with two superposed arms 11 and 12, substantially horizontal, which are

turned to the back.

  The two arms 11 and 12, integral with the amount 9, have notched faces located in correspondence. More particularly, the upper arm It has notches 13 on its upper face, while the arm

  lower 12 has notches 14 on its underside.

  The bar 6, disposed vertically, is pierced with two openings 15 and 16, having a shape "T" corresponding to the profiles of the two arms 11 and 12. The openings 15 and 16 of the bar 6 are thus provided to be traversed respectively by the two arms 11 and 12, the edges of these openings 15 and 16 coming to hook on the respective notches 13 and 14 of the arms 11 and 12. It is understood that these notches 13 and 14 make it possible to adjust the position of the bar 6, which can be placed thus at a

  distance greater or less D of the amount 9.

  In the use of the support 3, as shown in particular in Figure 3, the two arms 11 and 12 are respectively engaged above and below the handrail 4 of the railing 2, before introduction of the bar 6. Then , the bar 6 is engaged on the two arms 11 and 12, to connect these two arms by embracing the handrail 4, the position adjustment of this bar 6 to adapt the support 3 to the width

of the handrail 4.

  The first strip 7, shown alone in FIG. 4, comprises two parallel vertical flanges 17 interconnected by material bridges 18, delimiting a series of openings 19 distributed along the length of this strip 7. Two retaining hooks 20, formed at the lower end of the amount 9 ,. are provided to be engaged in two selected openings 19 of the strip 7. Thus, the strip 7 is held horizontally under the main body 5, its position being adjustable in the

front-to-back direction.

  At its rear end, the first strip 7 comprises a catch 21, extending transversely to this strip 7. Triangular reinforcements 22 connect the lateral parts of the catch 21 to the two flanges 17 of. the strip 7. This tab 21 is provided to bear against the railing 2, and more particularly against at least one bar 23 of the railing 2. For this purpose, the length L of the support surface of the catch 21 is chosen higher at the interval that usually separates the bars 23

from such a balcony railing 2.

  By the choice of the two openings 19 in which the hooks 20 are engaged, the position of the bar 7 and the support cleat 21 is adjusted,

  in order to always maintain the support 3.

  The second bar 8 also has, between two parallel vertical flanges 24, a series of openings 25 distributed along the length of this bar 8. The bracket 10 is provided on its upper face with three retaining hooks 26 intended to be engaged in selected openings 25 of the strip 8. Thus, the strip 8 is held horizontally

  on the console 10, its position being adjustable in the front-rear direction.

  At its front end, the second strip 8 carries a stop 27, provided to retain either directly the front part of the planter 1 or

  the front edge of a kind of saucer 28 on which rest the gardener I -

  see figures I and 3. It is understood that the setting of. the strip 8 makes it possible to adapt the support 3 to various widths of the planter I and / or the

saucer 28.

  The amount 9 also has, on its front face and at different levels, hooks 29 facing upwards, and provided for the retention of the rear part of the planter I. As shown in Figure 3 ,. one of the hooks 29, located at a suitable height, is engaged under the upper rim

of the planter 1.

  In the embodiment shown in the drawing, the upright 9 also has, towards its upper part, an enlarged zone 31 forming a kind of plate, in which two holes 32 are formed. These complementary arrangements make it possible to fix the support 3 directly against a vertical wall, such as a wall or a partition, after removing the parts, including the two arms 11 and 12, located behind the upright 9. In this case, the support 3 is obviously used without the bar 6 and without

the first ruler 7.

  It goes without saying that the invention is not limited to the sole embodiment of this balcony planter support which has been described above, for example; it embraces, on the contrary, all

  variants of implementation and application respecting the same principle.

Claims (9)

  1. Planter support for balcony, characterized in that it is made of synthetic material and in that it comprises, essentially, a substantially vertical upright (9) provided, towards its lower part, with a bracket (10) turned forward and provided to support the weight of the planter (1), and to its upper part, two arms (11,12) integral with the upright (9), substantially horizontal and facing rearward, which are capable of being interconnected by a vertical bar (6) which is removable and adjustable in position at a greater or lesser distance (D) from the upright (9), so that the upper part of the upright (9), the two arm (11,12) and the bar (6) can encircle the handrail (4) with a balcony railing (2).   2. balcony planter support according to claim 1, characterized in that the two horizontal arms (11,12) have notched faces (13,14), and in that the vertical bar (6) is pierced with two openings (15,16) intended to be traversed respectively by the two arms, the edges of these openings (15,16) hanging on the notches (13,14). corresponding arms (11,12).   3. balcony planter support according to claim I or 2, characterized in that it further comprises, towards its lower part, a strip (7) substantially horizontal and facing rearward, which is mounted in position in the position front-rear direction relative to the amount (9), and which comprises, at its rear end, a cleat (21) provided to take support against the balustrade (2).   4. balcony planter support according to claim 3, characterized in that is provided, for the adjustment of the position of the slide (7), a series of openings (19) distributed over the length of this strip (7) , while the upright (9) has, at its lower end, at least two retaining hooks (20), intended to be engaged in certain   openings (19), suitably chosen, of the strip (7).   5. balcony planter support according to claim 3 or 4, characterized in that the cleat (21) integral with said strip (7) has a bearing surface whose horizontal dimension (L), measured transversely to the strip ( 7), is greater than the interval usually separating   bars (23) of a balcony railing (2).   6. Balcony planter support according to any one of   claims I to 5, characterized in that the bracket (10) carries a stop   movable front (27), adjustable in position in the front-back direction, and provided to retain the front part of the planter (1), while allowing a   setting the support (3) according to the width of the planter (1).   7. balcony planter support according to claim 6, characterized in that the front stop (27) is carried by a horizontal strip (8) provided with a series of openings (25) distributed along its length, while the console (10) comprises at least two retaining hooks (26) intended to be engaged in certain openings (25),   suitably chosen, of this slider (8).   8. Balcony planter support according to any one of   claims I to 7, characterized in that the amount (9) comprises on its   front, and at different levels, hooks (29) provided for the retention of the rear part of the planter (I) in the case of a jardinièr.e provided from a rim (30) to its top.   9.
