Abstract

>Dental treatment instrument which is to fulfil for a practitioner the three functions of retraction, vision illumination and suction of the operating field, characterised by a tubular handle 12, 22, 32 of a length of approximately 10 cm for a diameter of 10 mm. This handle is hollow and bent in the shape of a bayonet for a better handgrip. It can be connected to the surgical suction at 14, 24, 34 and is extended at its other end by a tunnel 16, 26 included in the spoon-shaped part of the instrument. This highly widened portion is relatively flat, although slightly concave. It incorporates the double-sided mirror 11, 21, 31 whilst acting as a spatula by virtue of its rounded edges whose non-limiting shape must allow good retraction of the mucosa.

Description

DENTAL TREATMENT INSTRUMENT
Common oral operations require the functions of spreading, illuminating the operating field, drawing saliva or water or blood.

These functions require the use of several instruments, the manipulation of which requires assistance to the operator DU, the non-use of one of these 3 functions.

According to the invention, these different functions are provided by a single instrument increasing the freedom of movement of the operator. By way of example, the use of the instrument which is the subject of the invention facilitates the descaling operation because it allows irrigation during the intervention, and this without loss of time, increasing the quality of the intervention.

Figures 1, 2, 3 given by way of example, make it possible to better highlight the characteristics of the invention.

Figure I is a front view, it shows the instrument made of hard plastic, consisting of a suction cannula partially surrounding a circular mirror or any other form suitable for the instrument. The main tubS 12 connectable at 14 to the surgical suction of the unit is extended at 16 by a tunnel leading to an orifice 15, this orifice is common to the 2 faces of the instrument, it is therefore visible at 25 in the figure 2. In 17 is the solid and rigid part which allows the mirror to be held in the cannula, the edges are rounded to allow the function of retractor without risk of injury.

Figure 2 is a back view of the instrument. In 22 Dn finds the main suction tube connected at 24 to one surgical suction. 26 shows the tunnel extending the main suction tube, this tunnel is covered with a cover that requires the production of molded plastic of the instrument.

This tunnel opens at its most distal end at 25 into a hole common to the 2 faces, and at its end closest to the main tube 22 practically in its connection by a hole 22 which is the second suction orifice. The number of suction orifices is not limiting and others can be fitted on the path of the tunnel 26. The particular shape of the surround of the mirror gives it any possibility of removing cheek, lips, tongue, this form n is also not limiting and the end of the cannula around the most distal suction orifice will be arranged in the form of a spoon so as to ensure better grip of the mucous membranes to be removed.

Figure 3 is a side view which highlights the function of retractor of the instrument. Note the slightly bayonet shape and twist on itself of the instrument.

Par contre, l'o- rifice 33 ne se retrouve lui que sur la figure 2 en 23.A first part corresponding to the mirror portion - slightly concave suction tunnel, this part thus acting as a spreader: it is the spoon part of the instrument which extends from hole 33 through the handle which is in fact the main tube 32 curved in a small balloon so as to allow a better grip. 35 is the orifice common to FIGS. 1 and 2 corresponding to 15 and 25 since it is this same hole which accesses the tunnel 16 or 26, this hole interesting the 2 faces. On the other hand, the orifice 33 is found only in FIG. 2 at 23.

The use of the instrument according to the invention follows from its forms and its characteristics. In particular, the double-sided mirror is used with profit to reflect the incident light and facilitate the vision of the operating field. It can be a flat mirror or a concave (magnifying) mirror. On the other hand, a light source can be included in the instrument thereby increasing performance.
