Abstract

The invention relates to an instrument which makes it possible to draw ellipses of the desired dimensions with great ease. It consists of a rather flat square case 1 in which the mechanism is contained. Viewed from above: a rule carrying its own scribing means, and two buttons for adjustments. Having adjusted the instrument, the user rotates the rule through 180 DEG , which takes the scribing means through an elliptical movement and, owing to the case 1 which rotates on a base 16 graduated from 0 to 180 DEG , the instrument composes an infinite number of elliptical lines.

Description

 The present invention relates to an instrument for tracing ellipses.

 To date, schoolchildren, students, designers, drawing teachers have no instrument to draw ellipses.

They use many tricks to achieve them.

 The instrument according to the invention solves this problem. I1 has a flat square case.

 Top view: a graduated strip with two buttons used to adjust the size of the small and large axis, and a plotter holder that can accommodate all types of pencil.

 After this development, the user drives the slide by turning it with a rotational movement, either to the right or to the left to obtain a complete 180 ° turn and make an ellipse.

 On the other hand; this instrument offers another possibility thanks to the case which turns on a base graduated from O to 180, it allows to indefinitely compose multiple elliptical traces.

 This instrument can be made of plastic, or an alloy.

 I1 can be varied in size according to the specific needs of each user. Incidentally, this instrument can draw circles.

 The "TRACE - ELLIPSES" device consists of a box (1) open on both sides in a circular shape (2). This box has two perpendicular endings (3.1 and 3.2) allowing the sliding of two identical drawers (4.1 and 4.2).

 These drawers (4.1 and 4.2) of square shape, contain a disc (5.1 and 5.2) which can rotate freely while remaining integral with this drawer.

This disc (5), of transparent material, has in its center a hole (6) intended to receive one of the axes (9 or 10) integral with the strip (8) This disc also has a light (7) in which the door -tracer (11) is housed.

 The axes (9 and 10) are locked after adjustment, on the strip, by a screw nut system (12). The plotter holder (11) can be provided with an immobilization device not defined here. A mark (15) on the case indicates the orientation of the ellipse.

Operation
By driving the strip (8) in rotation, the axis (9) integral with the drawer (4.1) can only move along the axis XX '; similarly the axis integral with the drawer (4.2) itself, can only move along the axis YY 'the movement being possible only by the rotation of the discs in the drawers.

The plotter (2) therefore has an elliptical movement with respect to the paper or other support (14) intended to receive the plot.

 The dimensioning of the major axis A'A being given by twice the distance of the axis (9) relative to the plotter, a scale (13) on the strip allows adjustment. In the example shown, A'A = 12 centimeters, the distance from the axis (9) being 6 centimeters.

 Likewise, the dimensioning of the minor axis BB ′ of the ellipse is twice the distance of the axis (10) relative to the tracer. In the example shown, the minor axis BB 'will be 8 centimeters, the distance from the axis being 4 centimeters.

Claims (5)

CLAIMS "TRACE - ELLIPSES" device allowing the tracing of ellipses at the desired dimension.  1) Device according to claim characterized by a housing (1) open on either side in a circular shape (2). This box has two perpendicular recesses (3.1 and 3.2).  2) Device according to claim 1 characterized by the sliding of two identical drawers (4.1 and 4.2). These drawers (4.1 and 4.2), of square shape, contain a disc (5.1 and 5.2) which can rotate freely while remaining integral with this drawer. This disc (5) has a hole (6) in its center.  3) Device according to claim 1 or claim 2 preceding characterized in receiving one of the axes (9 or 10) integral with the strip (8). This disc also has a light (7) in which the plotter holder (2) is housed. The axes (9 and 10) are locked after adjustment on the graduated slide.  4) Device according to any one of the preceding claims characterized in that the base (16) graduated to 180 allows the rotation of the housing (1).  5) Device according to one of the preceding claims characterized by the use of the principle on a mechanical lathe.
