Abstract

Mechanical knee support which can be fitted to any operating table, with remote control, for knee arthroscopy. The invention allows remote operation of an extensible lever arm 2, fitted with a knee rest 3 placed in the popliteal fossa of the knee and with a removable thigh clamp 4. Since the lever 2 is extensible, it is possible to adjust it to the length of the femur of the patient, which makes it possible to have the support always placed in the popliteal fossa. The angulation of the knee can be adjusted very precisely; finally, with the manipulation being performed by using a lever 2, this mechanical operation eliminates any risk of infection during manipulation of the knee during arthroscopy. The device comprises a control box 1 remotely operating an extensible lever arm 2, fitted with a knee rest 3 in the popliteal fossa and a removable thigh clamp 4.
