Abstract

L'invention concerne les circuits électroniques de calcul. Un circuit de transformation par approximation linéaire ayant une architecture pipeline utilise des nombres d'entrée en virgule flottante et des informations de pente et d'ordonnée initiale provenant de tables enregistrées dans des mémoires mortes, pour déterminer y = mx + b (b pouvant être positif ou négatif), de façon à réaliser une approximation de diverses courbes par des segments linéaires. Le circuit comporte également des moyens prévus pour calculer rapidement la racine carrée ou l'inverse d'un nombre d'entrée en virgule flottante. Application aux processeurs graphiques rapides.
