Abstract

L'invention a pour objet des produits spongieux hydrophilisés, notamment des éponges de polyéther ou de polyester de polyuréthane hydrophilisés. Le traitement d'hydrophilisation consiste à greffer au moins sur la surface du produit spongieux, par un mécanisme radicalaire, un monomère hydrophile tel que l'acide acrylique, en présence d'un peroxyde tel que l'eau oxygénée. Le greffage peut être réalisé par irradiation au moyen de rayonnements ionisants ou au moyen d'un sel ferreux, par exemple de sulfate ferreux. Les produits spongieux ainsi hydrophilisés présentent un caractère hydrophile permanent et de bonnes propriétés de mouillabilité et de rétention d'eau.
