Abstract

The protective device comprises a tubular base 21 resting on the upper face of the lower core plate 2, a guide socket 22, 42 mounted slidably in the axial direction inside the base 21, 41 and complementary axial guidance and end stop means 27, 28 on the base 21 and on the socket 22 in order to guide this socket and restrict its axial movements. A spring 30 makes it possible to return the socket 22 in the direction of the guide tube 14 so that its end directed towards the guide tube comes into contact with the lower nozzle of the fuel assembly 3 when the latter is placed on the lower core plate 2.
