Abstract

Floating stretcher for rescuing people on a water surface. The invention is a stretcher permitting the rescue and stretchering of a person stricken with fractures, which are apparent or otherwise, and with sickness with or without loss of consciousness. It consists of a fixed neck rest 1 and a movable back rest 2 which can be adjusted to the size of the person. These two rests are located on a face of a board 3 having a rectangular shape and positive buoyancy. On the perimeter there is a rounded shape 4 for safety purposes in the event of falling off, and handles 6, 2 or 3 in number, along the length of the board in order to permit stretchering. The stretcher according to the invention is intended for rescue on a water surface and, subsequently, for stretchering, thus avoiding all man-handling of the victim.

Description

 The floating stretcher according to the invention belongs to the rescue and stretcher equipment.

It aims to go out in the best possible conditions: - people injured with or without apparent fractures, - people who have had discomfort with or without loss of consciousness,
this on the aquatic surface.

The process of extracting a victim in water is traditionally carried out in the following way a) - by a buoy which keeps the person on the surface of the water, b) - by manual methods which have as principle d '' exercise a retro
pedaling by keeping the victim's head above water, bringing back
this one on the edge of the basin or the edge of the beaches, without worrying
distance problems caused, c) - in the frame of the pools, the victim is brought to the edge with the facial side
facing the water. Once out of the water, the rescuer takes his hands
of the victim, immerse the person in water, thanks to the push
Archimedes who reduces the weight of the victim, the exit is therefore
facilitated. This method is positive in basins where the surface
water is equal to or slightly less than the edge of it
(About 5 cm).

 For conscious people at the time of the immersion these make a reflex apnea, however for the unconscious people the water can infiltrate in the lungs by a simple inspiration, from where aggravation of its state.

 With the device according to the invention, the problem of retro pedaling is eliminated, hence less fatigue for the rescuer. The problem of the basins is reduced because the victim is already attached to the floating stretcher, which secures him, no more problem of evacuation out of the basin, the height of the edges being able to go up to 50 cm and more.

 The stretcher according to the invention is rectangular in shape or the volume is greater than the weight, allowing a positive buoyancy which can support, thus the weight of a person of approximately 100 Kg (the press surface of the stretcher being calculated in Kg per cm 2) .

On the surface of use, we discover - a neck rest allowing to put the head back to release the
airways, - an adjustable back rest to put it in the siphosis position,
hence safety for fractures of the spine (displacement of the vertebrae) and
whatever the size of the victim, - attachments are adapted to the stretcher to allow fixing and
ideal position, - on each side come out rope handles (3 x 2) from tubes
having crossed the stretcher crosswise, in order to obtain a
better support and holding force, - the sides of the stretcher are rounded in order to avoid any accident for
the rescuers during a fall in the water, - the stretcher is made of resin and polystyrene made in several
molding operations.

The present invention will be better understood by referring to the figures - Figure nO 1 represents the stretcher seen from above, - Figure nO 2 represents the stretcher seen from the side in the direction of the
width, - Figure 3 shows the stretcher seen from the side in the direction of the
width, the neck rest seen from the front, - Figure 4 shows the stretcher seen from the side in the direction of the
width, the back rest from the front, - Figure 5 shows the stretcher in a section representing the
heart of it, - Figure 6 shows the stretcher seen from below.

 As an indication, the stretcher has the following dimensions - 2.10 m for its length, - 0.70 m for its width, - 0.10 m for its thickness.

 One of the sides of the stretcher is equipped with a fixed neck rest (1) having a shape corresponding to the neck of a person. A mobile adjustable back rest (2) of a shape corresponding to the back of a person.

This back rest (2) is mobile to adapt to any height of the victim. These two rests (neck and back) (1 and 2) are on a board (3) of positive buoyancy with the rounded edges (4).

 The purpose of the rescue method is: to take the edge of the lateral side (8) of the stretcher facing the back rest (2) then to hoist the victim on this rounding to pivot, install and fix it with the straps ( 5).

Rescue is thus facilitated. The water outlet is more adequate thanks to the handles (6) of the stretcher.

 The invention is intended for the rescue of people in difficulty in the water, whatever the handicap encountered. In view of the difficulties found, the outing and the care provided are significantly improved.

 d) Stretcher for the rescue of a person characterized in that it is constituted  a board (3) of positive buoyancy, one of the faces of which is equipped with a  neck rest (1) and a mobile back rest (2) adjustable according to the size  of the victim, as well as straps (5) to fix the person on said  board (3), and handles (6) to hoist the stretcher out of the water.
