Abstract

Description

The present invention relates to the new industrial product constituted by

  a new furnishing item designed to increase the comfort and convenience of installing a living room. This article consists of a curtain rod or the like, characterized in that on at least a part of its

  length is made of a transparent or transparent material

  lucid and at the same time constitutes a housing for a fluorescent tube, the fastening means of this rod on the wall of the room constituting at the same time the passages for

  the electrical conductors supplying said tube.

  The rod itself can take any other traditional form, and serve as a guide to rings of wood, metal or plastic. The usual end balls constitute removable plugs allowing insertion and extraction of the tube by its replacement, as well as its

  accessories (choke, transformer and the like).

  In addition to its guide role for the rings and curtains, which are attached to it, this rod serves in addition to both support, protection and diffuser for the fluorescent tube

  It is well known that the locations of

  rods in living rooms are generally poorly

  According to the invention, on at least a portion L of its length, the cylinder I is made of transparent material, at least on a portion P of its periphery. In the length L is housed a fluorescent tube 6 whose electrical power supply conductors pass through one of the supports 2 or by the

  two to be connected to the mains. In volume I are also

  housed tube 6 accessories, such as choke 7, its

  sockets (not shown) and the like. The end 8 of the cylinder

  dre 1 can in turn contain the transformer, and is slidably adapted at 9 on this cylinder so as to allow easy access to the inside, for the replacement of the tube 6. Plug 10 close the ends of the rod 1 in the usual way. It can thus be seen that all the constituent elements of the fluorescent tube 6 are housed inside the volume constituted by the rod and its supports. The first result is a significant gain in space, as mentioned above. Moreover the rod represents a mechanical protection of the tube, which, moreover, can be conveniently disassembled as a whole. Finally the material of the cylinder I plays the role of diffuser, essential accessory

  and often bulky fluorescent tube.

  Of course the dimensions of this article may be quite arbitrary, the length L may represent only one or more portions separated from the total length of the cylinder 1. Similarly, the transparent or translucent portion of these portions L may be colored with way to create various lighting effects in the room. Finally, the curtain 5 attached to the rings can be hung below this rod, which remains apparent, or conversely have a panel concealing it, the light effect resulting from indirect lighting reflection

on the ceiling.

  In the latter case, this effect can be obtained by a sleeve threaded over the translucent rod, and having the external appearance of the accessories of the curtain (rings of wood or copper), this sleeve having one or more windows rotatable by rotation of the sleeve on the rod, by hand

or by means of a motor.

Curtain rod characterized in that on at least a portion of its length it is made of a transparent material and is at the same time a housing for a fluorescent tube, the fastening means of this rod on the wall of the component part at the same time the passages for   the electrical conductors supplying said tube.   2. Rod according to claim 1, characterized in that it comprises at least one element opaque to light, pierced with at least one window to guide at will the area illuminated by the rod.   3. Rod according to claim 2, characterized in that this element is a sleeve threaded onto the rod and comprising at least one rotatable window by rotation of this sleeve, to by hand or by means of an engine.
