Abstract

The invention relates to a method for assembling components made from cellular material, for example expanded polystyrene. This method is characterised in that, a bead 15, 16 of the same material is provided, in an extra thickness, on each of the components to be assembled, along a joining line, and in that a heating blade 18, raised to a temperature above the melting point of the material, is applied along the said joining line until the beads are flattened out, causing them to self-amalgamate (fusion-bond). Application to the production of complex shapes made from plastic foam, especially for foundry patterns.
