Abstract

Device for casting alloyed steels or alloys based on nickel, chromium, molybdenum, cobalt, copper, etc., in a device formed of 2 metal half-shells. The system makes it possible to obtain ingots or castings with simple cross-sections, in a small quantity and in an economic manner. The device consists of a shell holder which can receive sets of 2 half-shells which constitute the mould for the desired product. A casting system in refractory permits filling of the moulds. A feeder (volume of molten metal) ensures that the product is supplied throughout cooling. The shells are designed so as to obtain a more or less sound product. The device according to the invention is intended particularly for manufacturing remelting ingots and castings which have to undergo further conversion, such as billets and shafts.
