Abstract

The device of the invention makes it possible to vary the focus of an acoustic lens 1 consisting of a flexible elastic lens-shaped membrane filled with liquid. It consists of inflatable balloons 3 supplied with liquid or gas through pipes 4 by a micro-pump 5 with its reservoir 6. These balloons are housed in non-extensible reservoirs 2 of the lens 1. By inflating and deflating the balloons, the amount of liquid in the lens is varied and the focus is altered. Intended particularly for use in medical applications of ultrasound.
