Description
DESCRIPTION
The present invention relates to a device making it possible to endow works of art of the canvas or wallpaper type, plan or left, plan or left drawing, textiles of any plan or left nature, fresco painted on flat or qauch mortar or any other a kind of flat or left-hand structure shaped in reduced thickness, of a new rigid and light support, complete with a decorative frame, having the functions of both reinforcement following a restoration operation, of final presentation mode , and a sealed box coaster in which the air is replaced by an inert rare gas of the nitrogen or argon type. This frame support also includes a heating element secured to the support allowing the work to be bonded to it. thanks to a hot-melt adhesive that a temperature below 80 C will soften, thus making the casting operation perfectly reversible. This heating support, before having the function of definitive support-frame of the work as it will be seen by the public, will serve beforehand as an operating table for the manipulation of dubbing proper, this manipulation involves simultaneously the melting of a reactivable hot-melt adhesive (a conventional wax-resin, a microcrystalline wax doped with PH?, a hotmalt or any other low melting point thermoplastic emulsion can be used, the best adhesive being a mixture of waxes microcrystallines, paraffins with high melting point, copolymers of vinyl acetate, polyethylene and aliphatic resins) by means of the heating fabric, and the placing under controlled vacuum of the work during the gluing operation , thereby achieving perfect contact between the work and its future medium by making them disappear. possible deformations thanks to the combined effect of the pressure exerted on the work and the softening of its various constituent layers by the induction of heat; the gate valves or suction points allowing connection to a vacuum pump, turboventilator or vacuum pump, are integral with the frame support, and will be used once the operation of fixing the original work is completed on this support, for the passage of the rare gas in which the work will be kept.
The aim of dubbing the work is to reinforce an old, weakened or damaged original support which does not re-read its supporting role (for example a very weak canvas to support a flaking pictorial layer). The doublare thus produced will also allow, after a particular reseating operation restoring the adhesion between the repair and the old support by regenerating the sizing for example, to put back in the plane of the work any deformation due to mvv conditions handling or conservation, to reduce the negative effect of cracks with protruding edges in the case of paintings and all kinds of lifting harmful to the good reading of a work. The choice of zhedive and temperature heated fabric allows either a simple surface adhesion between the original support and the new one, or a deep penetration or impregnation of adhesive in the original preparation of the work combining both the virtues of dubbing and that of refixaga.
The operations carried out to ensure the consolidation and reinforcement of graphic or painted works consist of re-lining for works painted on canvas support or interlining for any other rigid, semi-rigid or flexible support (for example paper), by adding to the back of the work by means of an adhesive of a new fabric made up of vegetable or synthetic fibers; dubbing on wooden support, although rarely, can be practiced as well as any form of transposition of the only pictorial layer deprived of its original support on another support, essentialbent the canvas. he various types of interlining or lining are attached to three troops depending on the adhesives used: glue (flour, fish or animal), wax and synthetic resins. These manipulations use either traditional old techniques, or the use of heating tables or not combining the intervention of vacuum or not; these tables always constitute a fixed material remaining foreign to the work. It is heavy and bulky. The heating system obtained by thermoelectric effect involves a metal plating.
The device, object of the invention, performs both functions at the same time: the first being the tool allowing the realization of the doublae, the second being what constitutes the doubling. The art object is therefore permanently accompanied by a reversible support from which it can be separated at any time. It offers the possibility at any time of replacing one adhesive with another. I1 offers the advantage over all other existing sunports of being both very damaged, of having very high rigidity, perfect dimensional stability, very good resistance to corrosion and very high mechanical performance in the case where the intervention would be carried out over large areas. L3 rigidity and dimensional stability of such a support provide security never realized before and whose value is essential for the future of the work. At the time of a restautation, the work is treated according to various techniques, in the aim of ensuring that these interventions have suitable qualities of stability and reversibility. It is unfortunate that after an intervention on a work, the future support which will ensure its reinforcement, degrades by its own instability the result of the meticulous and costly care which was lavished on it during the restoration. The extreme finesse of the analyzes carried out on painted works in particular accompanied by complex interventions by restoration practitioners find their culmination in the absurd juxtaposition of a work that is always unstable and fragile and of a new medium with the same defects; the synergistic effect is frequent, in this sense that the remedy is, however, worse than non-intervention. Even when all the precautions have been taken, the new support, always reactive in the current case of the technique and the choice made by the conservatives, inevitably transmitting more or less in the short term the nuisance of its own instability to the original which thereby nerds the specificities that the restoration operations had endeavored to give it of a lasting hawk.
The device which is the subject of the invention offers a permanent service in the sense that it serves as a watertight box containing the work of art and allows the curator of this work to create a specific and regulated atmosphere therein. sheltered from chemical degradations due to aggressions caused rar the ambient environment and possibly physical aggressions @ coming from outside. We know how well the process of oxidation due to contact with air is harmful to the constituent materials of the work: it is the oxygen of.
Sulfur dioxide is also the cause of serious alterations since it transforms into sulfuric acid and attacks paper, canvas, fresco, stone and also paint.
Let us also add the urban impurities of tarry nature which strongly adhere to the work by producing stains. The retouching of the restorer will also have to undergo attacks from the ambient air. the device which is the subject of the invention replaces the air with a rare gas in which any form of oxidation does not exist, thus making any restoration very stable and protecting the work of art itself. The gate valves integral with the: support. which were used to take the vacuum will then be used for the passage of argon in the box. If the climatic conditions require it, the temperature can be regulated inside the box by the permanent use of the heating fabric, inducing a temperature rise in the frame. It suffices to ensure that the desired temperature never exceeds the limit permitted for the good mechanical strength of the constituent elements of the work as well as that of the backing adhesive. In fact it will always be a temperature around 200C which will never present a danger for the work and the lining adhesive. The device object of the invention also makes it possible to control the hygrometric degree of the interior atmosphere of the box, either by means of a humidifying agent placed inside the box, or directly by injecting argon previously mixed with steam.
The device which is the subject of the invention allows the use of a filter glass closing the frame-frame on the face side. Whatever the light source illuminating the painting, it emits, in addition to visible light, dangerous radiation such as infrared radiation and ultraviolet radiation: the latter have photochemical properties, especially on objects containing organic materials such as pigments, coloring matter, fabrics, inks, etc. Oxidation reactions are favored by light (photo-oxidation). The short wavelengths yes give very energetic radiant, like ultraviolet radiation, will therefore be neutralized by a glass filtering the desired ray. We can also use a laminated glazing composed of at least two simple glazing intimately bonded by the interposition of polyvinyl butyral films: in the event of breakage, the butyral core constitutes a frame on which the splinters remain bonded, thus ensuring residual protection of the work before replacing the glazing. One can also drown a very fine copper wire in the butyral interlayer creating a continuous network yes, energized, constitutes an alarm system in the event of rupture. This glass can be equipped with anti-reflective properties. To avoid reflections, the simplest is to integrate into the frame an adjustment of inclination of the glazing relative to the ground; if the floor is black and matt and the glazing is made at an adequate angle with the in work to be observed, the reflections are effectively neutralized. The device which is the subject of the invention also makes it possible, by a permanent connection of the heating fabric to the sector, to ensure the security of the work against theft. A very low electricity intensity is enough; if the frame is removed from the wall, the circuit is cut and the alarm is triggered; it is not possible for a potential thief to steal only the paint in order not to disturb the connections; the paint is absolutely secured to its support and such manipulation is made impossible by this device.
As shown (Plate 1/6 Figure 1, Plate 2/6 Figures 1 and 2, Plate 4/6 Figure 4) the device comprises a composite panel (1) consisting of an aluminum honeycomb core inium, glass fabric, or nolyamide paper impregnated with aromatic formophenolic resin, both sides of which are coated by gluing with epoxy resin, either with a laminated glass cloth fabric impregnated with epoxy retina, or with a network of unidirectional glass fibers impregnated with peroxide resin, either of one or more carbon fabrics (with fibers inclined by 300 on the axis) impregnated with epoxy resin, or of a combination of a layer of polni- ide and one or more layers of glass cloth. The central honeycomb rere2u can be reread beforehand in the direction of the collare of its constituent bands in the direction (25).
A lateral drilling on the face side according to (26) will allow during the heating of the heating fabric (2) a possible evacuation of the expanded air trapped in the honeycomb cells, thus ensuring total security in the geometric stability of the support ( 1) during heating. This is an optional extreme precautionary measure in most cases. Good geometrical stability during heating can be ensured by a second heating fabric bonded to the other side of the support (1). The heating fabric (2) consists either of a graphite fabric of low electrical resistance with a content of carbon between 99 and 100, either of a glass fabric whose channe comprises parallel carbon threads spaced regularly which constitute the electrical resistance, or of a non-woven felt in polyester fiber agglomerated by an acrylic or epoxy binder and loaded with carbon. This fabric has two lateral electrodes (3) made of copper strip 3 / 100th thick folded twice on the fabric and stapled. These electrodes are connected to two terminal blocks (17) provided with a fuse.
The fabric (2) provided with its electrodes (3) is glued under pressure to the panel (1) using an epoxy resin adhesive with high thermal performance. A series of four metal sections (9) held in place by magnetic intermediaries (8) hide the electrodes (3) and the taps (4) and (5) used for the vacuum and the passage of the 'argon. Perimeter reinforcements (6) in plastic material make it possible to adapt the protective glass (11) placed on a seal (10) as well as the profile frame (12) kept under pressure on the glass by means of pressure screws (14) or (34). The support thus described can also be produced on the left surface which is constructed from a panel whose core consists of a honeycomb of glass fabric impregnated in the desired form of epoxy resin in a previously shaped mold. . From this core, the other flexible elements will be joined to it by colLae and impregnation of thermosetting resin. The profiles and the glass will be Fauchais or machined accordingly.
As shown (Plate 5/6 Figure 1) the bonding of the work of art on this new up-port includes the following steps: the frame support is laid flat on a system of trestles. The fabric (2) is tri-snus tension through the terminals (17).
Tour conclure, on procède au passade de l'argon par ler robinets (4).Thanks to an autotransformer previously calibrated, the desired temperature is obtained in the fabric (2) and the adhesive, which is previously activated, is deposited over its entire surface, using a rigid spatula or a flexible spalter. The work (A), for example the painted canvas, is deposited on the heating fabric (2) coated with adhesive that is simply softened or fluid depending on whether a simple surface attachment or a complete impregnation of the canvas is desired. It is also possible to introduce a neutral FS paper intermediate between the support and the work to be bonded to improve the spreading of the adhesive and to dampen the grain effect of the support. This intermediate bet also uses two different adhesives on the side support and paint side leaving to the manipulator the subtle choice of two different viscosities for example. On the canvas (A) we place a separating fiIm (B) in polyethylene terephthalate or hydro-carbon halo covering it perfectly. On (B) a polyethylene terephthalate glycol polyester nonwoven (a) is used as drainage for obtaining the vacuum: this drainage fabric (C) must cover the vacuum sockets (4). ) a larger bladder (E) made of nylon 6/6 is placed (C) providing, thanks to perimeter seals (D) made of polyisobutene, good sealing during vacuuming. The vacuum pump is connected at a point (4) and started; the pressure can be controlled by the second gate valve (4) opposite the vacuum connection. The tension applied to the heating fabric is maintained for the time necessary for good adhesiveness depending on the adhesive used, then the current is cut. The vacuum is maintained until the adhesive has cooled. Once the bonding operation is complete, the profiles (9) are placed, then the seals (10), the glass (11) and the frame (12) using the pressure screws (14). To conclude, we proceed to the passage of argon by ler taps (4).
A slight internal depression or overpressure can be created to easily detect a possible leak. Once the rob s were not blocked, the frame could be hooked as a result thanks to the rear fasteners (27) (@lar 6/6 figure 1) integral with the panel (1) mounted on rubber shock absorber (28) (29) possible vibrations of the picture rail. We can then proceed to the connection in (17) for 13 rise depending on the anti-theft.
