Abstract

The invention relates to an indicator light for a motor vehicle having black strips. The indicator light according to the invention is characterised in that the visible glass of the light is made of a smoky transparent plastic 1 with a smooth external surface and strips 2 made with inward reliefs as a result of increasing the thickness of the smoky transparent plastic. Description

 The present invention relates to a signaling light for a motor vehicle having black bands.

 It has been proposed, to produce such a light which meets aesthetic and functional needs, to produce the black bands by hot stamping on raised bands.

However, the coating thus deposited only resists wear very poorly, in particular machine washing. To improve the hold, it was suggested to overmold a layer of transparent material on the bands thus marked, but the cost is high.

 It has also been proposed to inject a fire indicator and to overmold black bands but the cost of the corresponding tools is very high.

 The present invention aims to obtain a signaling light having black bands which is easy and economical to manufacture and which has a satisfactory appearance and functioning.

 To this end, the fire according to the invention is characterized in that the visible glass of the fire is made of transparent, smoked plastic material with a smooth external surface and bands in relief inwards by increasing the thickness of the smoked transparent plastic.

 Depending on their thickness, the bands may appear more or less dark, up to a black appearance, the portions between the bands having a much smaller thickness.

 The visible glass will have an amber, red or crystal appearance between the bands and a black appearance in the thick bands, corresponding to the lighting of the lamps.

The invention will be clearly understood on reading the following description made with reference to the appended drawing in which:
- Figure 1 is a schematic plan view of a portion of a lens of a fire according to the invention;
FIG. 2 is an end elevation view of the glass of FIG. 1, and
- Figure 3 is a sectional view on a larger scale of the ice.

 The glass is made of transparent plastic material smoked in a thin layer 1 in which there are thick strips 2 facing the interior of the light, the external face being smooth. Several forms of ice use are possible.

 The recesses and the internal reliefs of the sight glass may include the optical parts. Under these conditions, the color of the functions is obtained by fitting amber or red caps clipped, welded or glued to the bases.

 Another adaptation consists in producing a lens which is always smooth on the outside and internal grooves which will have no optical functions. These glasses will be placed on existing optics in red or amber.

The indicator may have a very thin thickness, and very spaced strips for the retro-reflecting function.

When the lights are lit with opaque hot-stamped bands, the appearance is irregular. On the other hand, when the lights are lit with the thickest smoke bands, the light passes through these areas and under these conditions, the lit aspect is more homogeneous.

CLAIMS.  1) Signaling light for a motor vehicle having black bands, characterized in that the visible glass of the fire is made of transparent smoke plastic (1) with a smooth outer surface and bands (2) raised inward by increasing the thickness of the smoked transparent plastic.  2) Signaling light according to claim 1, characterized in that the hollows and the reliefs inside the glass comprise optical parts.
