Abstract

Device for improving the action of the top section of a fishing rod. The invention relates to a device enabling the top section to be more flexible at the moment of casting the line and stiffer when reeling it in. It consists of a flexible top section 1 reinforced in its interior by a stiffer auxiliary top section 6, the two top sections being hollow and of the same taper and being coupled by a taut elastic system passing through the interior of the auxiliary top section 6 from its broad end 8 to the tip 2 of the top section proper 1. The auxiliary top section 6 can be lowered into the immediately preceding section 5 by which it is held, by pulling on a cord 16 which lies inside the rod and emerges through the open end 17 of the handle of the rod where the said cord is within reach of the angler. The device of the invention is designed for fishing rods having slightly tapering hollow rod sections with external rings for the casting of the line. The value of the device is chiefly in fishing with dead fish played from the edge.

Description

TECHNICAL AREA
The present invention relates to an improvement to fishing rods with hollow strands equipped for throwing the line, a function provided primarily by the terminal strand of the rod or scion, which is the subject of particular technical research.

PROBLEM
It is a question of being able, in fishing action, to modify the mechanical qualities of flexibility and power reserve of the scion without having to dismount said scion from the rod.

STATE OF TECHNOLOGY AND DISADVANTAGES

DESCRIPTION OF THE DIWOSITIVE
The scion itself of the cane or large scion (1) conical hollow, fairly flexible, is open at the end of its free end (2) and its large end g) is connected by styling it at the upper end (4) of the tip tip (5).  When the pulling wire (16) is pulled down from the cane, the small tip (6) disengages, leaves the large tip (1) and descends (Fig. 3) in the tip holder strand (5) where the traction maintained on said wire (16) can cause it to remain there for the desired time. To block the system in this position, the wire (16) has on its path a loop (18) intended, furthermore, attached to a small clip (20) located on the handle (19) of the rod.

 By simply releasing the wire (16) 6) the small tip (6) rises in the large tip (1) by elastic traction upwards. It seems practical to adjust the length of the pulling wire (16) so as to allow very little wire to pass outside when the small tip (6) is in the fully penetrated position in the large tip (1).

OTHER EMBODIMENTS
1-) The device which has just been described applies to a tip (1) connecting to its tip-carrying strand (5) by a fitting (Pig. 1 and 2).

It can be adapted to a telescopic rod tip (erg. 4) but in this case a removable collar (22) must be tightened, after the rod has been stretched, at the base of the large tip (i) and the other strands unfolded to prevent them from being folded up during pulling operations on the wire exiting through the heel of the cane.

 2-) In order to make the fitting area of the large scion (1) with its tip-carrying strand (5) more solid, the small scion (6) can be provided as long as the large scion (Figv 5) , the additional length of the small tip (6) being contained in the upper end (4) of the tip strand (5) and the latter (5) and the small tip (6) having their common ends (4 and 8) assembled in telescopic mode.

 3-) The elastic link can be formed by a simple rubber elastic or else (erg. 5) by the association of a non-extensible wire and a metal spring (21), the latter, elongated, being housed in the lower third of the small scion (6).

MEST OPERATION OF THE DEVICE
The fisherman's action essentially breaks down into 2 alternating phases: first launching it, then retrieving the line on the reel, a maneuver animated by fish luring movements.

 During these phases the position of the accessory scion or small scion (6) plays an essential role: a) With a view to launching (Fig. 3) the pulling wire (16) is pulled until its loop (18) can be hooked with 11 clip (20) located on the handle (19) of the rod. By this maneuver the big tip (1) being completely emptied of its internal reinforcement that constitutes the little tip (6), is transformed into a terminal strand of cane with good spring flexibility, this allowing a launch that is both less brutal and more long than with a stiff tip.

 b) For the wire recovery phase, as soon as the leader has plunged into the water, the loop (18) of the pulling wire (16) is unhooked from its clip (20) on the handle of the rod. Released, by this maneuver> upwards the small tip (6) enters (Fig. I) inside the large tip (1) thus providing it with a reinforcement of power reserve and rigidity. The rod is then armed with a tip whose stiffness increases its sensitivity while the power increases its effectiveness in the efforts of stalling hours of the obstacles and during the hooking of the fish, which it will then be necessary to bring to the landing net.

Claims (7)

 1. Device applied to fishing rods with hollow strands, slightly conical, equipped for launching the line, characterized in that one combines inside the rod. a) In the actual scion or large scion (1), flexible, an accessory scion or small scion (6), fairly stiff, removable, these two scions being hollow, of conical myoma and coupled by an elastic assembly (10), the caliber of the small scion being calculated so as to allow it to enter the scion carrying strand. b) With a system ensuring the temporary extraction, out of the large scion (1), of the small scion (6) and the maintenance of said small scion in the portenscion strand (5) by means of a pulling wire (16 ) exiting through the large open end (17) of the rod.  2. Device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the elastic link (10) consists essentially of rubber.  7. Device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that (fiv. 5) the elastic link (10) consists partly of a non-extensible wire and partly of a metal spring (21) elongated, housed in the lower third of the small scion (6).  8. Device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the non-extensible pulling wire (16), stapled to the swivel (12), descends inside the rod, exits through the heel ( 17) of said rod and can be hooked by its loop (18) to a small clip (20) fixed on the handle (19) of the rod  9. Device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that (Eig- 5) the small scion (6), even pushed fully inside the large scion (i) itself fitted on the strand scion (5), at its lower end (8) extended to 11 inside the upper end (4) of the scion-carrying strand (5), the male and female taper thus brought into being being adapted to fit one to each other perfectly.  10. Device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that (Fig. 4) the method of connection between the large tip (1) and the tip holder strand (5) being telescopic, a collar (22), removable , is tightened around the base of the large tip (1) and of the other possible strands once the rod is stretched, to prevent partial or total folding of the latter during the downward traction maneuvers on the small tip (6 ).
