Abstract

Device making it possible to adapt a trailer whose hitching gear is longitudinally rigid and articulated horizontally to light 3, 4, or 5 door cars or vehicles with a short rear overhang. It comprises a draw bar 1 with a hitching gear casing 2 for a standard ball, a removable front support 3 fixed to the roof of the vehicle and equipped with two slides 4 which guide two shafts 5 which are securely fixed to the trailer. The hitching gear is materialised by an isosceles triangle ASB in which the point S is articulated on the ball. The apexes A and B are mounted slidably on the roof within the wheelbase of the vehicle. The device is intended for utility trailers or leisure trailers of low total weight when loaded. It makes it possible to use the volume on the axle of the trailer as well as the volume situated beneath the vehicle within the permitted load limits of the latter.

L'attelage tel que décrit, transforme l'ensemble voiture-remorque en un volume rigide dans le plan horizontal, tout en conservant l'indépendance des volumes voiture et remorque dans le plan vertical. L'ensemble attelé réagit en tenue de route comme un véhicule 6X2 à roues indépendantes et peut se désolidariser comme un attelage voiture-remorque classique avec en plus la sécurité qu'offrent en cas de rupture de la boule ou de son support, les deux points A et B de fixation avant sur le toit de la voiture.
