Abstract

Border device for garden lawns, beds and paths, consisting of a profiled band made of galvanised steel or any other material consisting of an angle, one of the faces of which is notched 1 in order that it can be curved in all directions. The solid wall 2 of this device is pushed in at the periphery of the bed which it is to delimit while the notched wall 1 is level with the ground and serves as a rolling band for the mower wheel. These elements can be connected to one another with the aid of a plate, one 5 of the faces of which comprises holes 3 which makes it possible to connect two of them by means of bolts 4 while the other 6 serves to ensure stability. The novelty of this device consists in a border of curvable flexible type, one of the faces of which serves as a rolling track allowing neat cutting of the lawn; this invention finds its best applications in gardens of free layout.

BORDER OF GALBABLE GARDEN b / The present invention relates to the borders-surrounding the
lawns and flower beds in gardens or parks.

c / Borders of this type are usually made of bricks, concrete elements juxtaposed to each other, or plastic profiles.

 However, these different types of border have significant drawbacks. Indeed, the flexible plastic profiles if they effectively delimit the beds do not allow precise mowing and require finishing the edges with small tools resulting in a considerable loss of time.

 Certain types of brick borders or concrete elements avoid this drawback by allowing the mower to overlap the lawn making this finish superfluous / such as the patented border 79 27692 but the major disadvantage of this type of border lies in the double fact of an expensive labor of setting up and of an impossibility of marrying curved forms with rectilinear elements. The English invention which partially solves the problem of implementation cannot solve the problem of curved shapes (Invention 14 76723).

The object of the present invention is to produce an edge device which makes it possible both to avoid the finishing of the edges by being able to serve as a raceway for the mower wheel, while retaining the flexibility necessary to match any contour of the massif. or even very winding driveway.

 This device is in fact made up of a Slanted angle iron, one of the sides of which is possibly notched, allowing it to be curved in a concave direction as well as in a convex direction so as to perfectly fit the contour of the massif.

 The non-scalloped part is buried at the edge of the lawn or the driveway / thus serving as a stop to the lawn or to the gravel (or any other material) forming the driveway, while the scalloped part is pressed flush with the soil of the massif serving as a tread for the mower wheel.

 Some examples of making this border according to the invention are described below by way of explanation of the sketches which will remain attached in the appendix for information only.

 The edging device shown in figures Q01 AND N02 consists of a profiled strip made of galvanized sheet steel or of another material presenting qualities of flexibility and durability. This strip affects. the shape of an angle iron of which one of the fa ees I is possibly notched (and this is the originality of this device) allowing it to curve in all directions while the face 2 is pressed into the ground in order to delimit the lawn or the ally it borders.

This wall "2" is drilled with two holes "3" at the ends allowing connection thanks to the plate shown in the third sketch on which we find the same holes in "3";
The length of these strips as well as their width can be variable.

 It will depend on the destination envisaged by the user.

 For example, the notched elements can be made in greater lengths to avoid too many connections.

 The notched elements may vary in width for the tread "I" allowing for example to provide a width such that it can serve as a tread for a ride-on mower or even a mini-tractor.

But the wall "2" will always be proportional to the tread 1 so as to ensure a balance between the buried part and the level part. However, this wall "2" may have a wider title in order to identify the beds or raised lawns
The thickness is also a function of the intended use, but should allow a certain flexibility to be kept as a whole.

 I1 is enough to arrange this strip to delimit with the spade according to the trace which one wishes (as sinuous as it is) the solid mass, the lawn or the alley which one wishes to surround and push in the wall "2" in a manner a tread the tread "1" is flush with the earth of the solid mass or the material of the alley. The wall "5" of this angle iron will be applied to the wall "2" of the treads while the wall "6" will serve as a buttress in order to prevent the assembly from tilting; This wall "6" will rest on the ground "T" and will be covered with sand "S" as explained in the fourth sketch.

This same sketch N04 chose a slightly different example of a "P" lawn bordered by a sandy driveway. We see in this sketch that the wall "1" of the tread is placed on the lawn "P" and not on the sand-e "S" for a very obvious question of stability while the wall "2" turns the back to the allee as explained above:
The Ne5 sketch presents the classic example of a solid edge which, if the soil is sufficiently firm, does not require the use of connecting pieces.

 This sketch also shows in section the wheel of the mower "7".

 This being in overhang on the face 1 of the tread allows the blade "8" to cut clean flush with the wall 2 without any finishing being necessary.

 This system, if it is not new, had never found its application in an edgable flexible type border and it is the juxtaposition of these two advantages which makes the originality of the positive.

For this reason, this device according to the invention constitutes
a new industrial product whose flexibility is repro
duited by les'croquis N06 and N07, the low cost of production and the ease of implementation constitute significant advantages as much as the discretion of this device once it is put in place and its great mobility making it possible to change the contours of a massif with the greatest ease and reusing the basic elements which is impossible with almost all of the existing existing borders.

 This edging device according to the invention is obviously heap limited to the only exemplary embodiments described above and represented by the sketches appended thereto.

Claims (3)

 1 - Edge device for lawns, flowerbeds and garden paths, consisting of a profiled strip of galvanized steel sheet or any other material, consisting of an angle iron characterized by the fact that it is possibly notched on one side, so that it can be curved in all directions, this notched face also serving as a tread for the mower wheel.  2 - Edge device according to claim I characterized by the fact that the notched part of the angle is wider in order to surround the raised beds or lawns.  3 - Device for assembling two angles according to claim 1, consisting of a connection angle characterized by the fact that it can provide a seat and rigidity to the entire device.
