Abstract

The lamp is mounted on a pointed stem which can be driven into the soil in the vicinity of the plant. A conical shade houses the lamp bulb and its socket in an enclosure which is sealed apart from ventilation slots formed at the crown. The crown is of two part design. The main part of the shade has a circular opening at the top with an inset wall projecting into the enclosure. A cap with a slotted circular skirt fits into the top of the shade. The cap has an overlap which extends over the edge of the hole at the top of the shade preventing water ingress. The electric lamp shade is particularly applicable to the cultivation of exotic indoor plants which require high levels of illumination and warmth to grow well.
