Abstract

The musical instrument has five strings (2) which are bowed and it belongs to the violin family. It has five bowed strings, tuned by fifths and seven complementary strings. The resonance box is shaped as a viola, but slightly altered in that the base is curved. The complementary strings are fitted so that the two parts either side of the bridge (3) are used for resonance and the strings under the tail piece are an octave higher than the strings under the fingerboard (6). The complementary strings are not touched by the bow.
