Abstract

The LED display includes a double band of individual diodes formed in a figure of eight outline. The outline has more curved corners than the conventional right angle corners of other displays. This serves to make the character displayed more easily readable. Individual diodes (1-6) at the corners of the display are controlled from the data lines via a system of OR-gates. If for example the top line and upper right line are used for a character, then an OR-gate linking the two relevant data lines will be active, and thus operate the individual diode (1) in the top right hand corner. Five other logic gates are arranged to control the operation of diodes at the other corners of the display.
