Abstract

The coupling between a series of driven rotary paddle shafts and complementary yokes on agitator blade shafts mounted in interchangeable mixing reservoirs is concealed for safety reasons by a guard comprising a metal channel with slots for accepting agitator shafts and yokes on reservoirs supported at a suitable level beneath the driven shaft end. Each guard may be associated with an individual coupling or may enclose a group of couplings. The slots in the guards are shaped to assist alignment of the agitator yoke with the concealed drive paddles. Used for machines with gangs of drive shafts, from a common motor, for accepting paint containers for blending colour additives as required, esp. where such machinery may be used by the general public.
