Abstract

A spiked stud or 'limpet' for marking timber has a cylindrical head with a peripheral flange at the head/spike interface. The flange features one or more annular or spiral notch(es) which allows outlying portions of the flange to be removed to vary the area covered by the stud. For mounting, the head of the stud may be fitted into a recess in the face of a hammer for driving the spike into the timber. Pref. the stud is made of polyamide; no particular type is quoted.

The present invention relates to objects allowing the location and marking of wood (trees, logs, logs).

 In known methods of marking wood, the metal or plastic plate is the best known, plates which have protruding parts which stamp into the wood. Other more rudimentary processes are known such as marking with paint or pencil. The part allows a solid insertion and maintenance in the wood, allows a multitude of marks according to the colors integrated in the mass, allows its manufacture by a mold of simple design, allows the reference of numbers or letters or acronyms in the operation of injection, into the mass of plastic, allows simple installation by a normal hammer only have a female part with the corresponding dimensions to receive the head (1) of the crampon then allowing the operator with a single gesture with a single hand to plant the crampon in the wood. The part allows to file any other secondary mark such as label or pre-perforated flat plate, allows to receive an additional mark such as adhesive label.

 The invention is an injected polyamide part. Its head (7) allows the fitting of the part in the hollow part of the body of a hammer with the corresponding dimensions. The trunk has the shape of a rod (2) whose end (3) is pointed to facilitate the penetration of the crampon into the wood. The invention may comprise at the base of the head (1) a flat collar (4) which may have a diverse shape like rectangular, and whose position may possibly be offset relative to the axis of the crampon head, the collar may include a detachable heel (5) obtained by a fracture initiator produced by a groove (6) in the collar.

 The invention can be used for all types of marking on wood in all stages of the wood industry, logging, sawmill, carpentry, trading. The invention can possibly be used for all forms of location and marking on wood or elaborate materials such as signs for signage, decoration, advertising, educational games ...
