Abstract

The two part (3a,3b) telescopic pole is used to mount a tool such as power sander (1) for work on ceilings (2), using a resilient device to apply the tool continuously to the work surface whilst the bottom section is held by the operator. The tool can pivot relative to the top section (3a) and the resilient device may take the form of compressed air introduced (14) into the residual vol. (13) at the foot of the bottom section (3b). The contained compressed air acts on the housed lower end (11) of the top section and tends to cause pole extension, the bottom section being fitted with a compressor if required. A variant may use a third telescopic section housing onto the head section with an external coil spring between welded washers to promote extension.
