Abstract

The casing of generator (1) and the generator shaft (5) is extended to form the shaft (6) for the vacuum pump. A seal (4) is fitted over the shaft between the vacuum pump rotor and the bearing (3) of the generator. An end plate (13) with underlying seals (15) is screwed in place onto the casing, fitted over the end of the vacuum pump rotor. The vacuum pump is of the vane type, with the enclosure (10) eccentric about the rotor axis. Ring seals are provided at the rotor ends to reduce leakage. The end of the shaft has a bevelled portion with which the pump rotor is joined. The cover of the device is moulded in one piece with a portion of an incorporated lifting ring.
