Abstract

The propulsion system for a rotating body uses a single cylinder two stroke self igniting internal combustion engine. The crankshaft of the engine is connected to a rotor mounted on the central axis of the rotating body. The body is connected by a member attached at one end to its periphery and at the other end to the centre of the rotor. When the member extends vertically upwards, it is parallel to the connecting rod of the engine piston, and the piston is in its lowest position. When the piston is at top dead centre, and at its slowest speed, the member extends downwards at an acute angle to the vertical. The body is accelerated and decelerated by the reciprocation of the piston.
