Abstract

The street lamp is intended for remote sites, and has an array of photovoltaic cells which convert solar energy to electric energy to charge an accumulator bank during the day. The stored energy is then used to power the lamp during the night. The photovoltaic cells are mounted on an inVerted 'V' pofile support placed over the street lamp, while the accumulators and control units are mounted lower down. The charging of the accumulators is regulated by an electronic circuit, and the operation of the street lamp is automatically controlled by a programmable timer and/or a photo-electric cell activated switch. A protective fuse is incorporated to avoid overcurrent damage.

Description

The present invention relates to instruments of the reverberator, lamppost or light type for lighting a place, a room or a street during the night period.

Systems of this kind already exist, but only insofar as they use fuel, gas or oil, or electricity from the network or from storage batteries.

The object of the present invention has the advantage of manufacturing its own anergy itself, thus making it possible to obtain lighting in any place and independently of the ins
That the daytime brightness of the implantation site ensures compensation with the energy expenditure necessary for the lighting in question.

This invention uses solar energy using the photovoltaic process which transforms light energy into electricity.

The object of the present invention consists of a main body of shape reminiscent of that of a conventional device to which its
Added elements ensuring autonomy and "solarization" of the device; by solarization, it means that we bring the hicessSire triel to capture and transform solar energy into electricity. This "solarization" consists of one or more photovoltaic sensors depending on the power of said sensors and the amount of energy that we want to store in order to compensate for the energy spent during the night period and ensure floating maintenance with the accumulator which is intended to supply the energy ensuring the ignition of a fluorescent tube or lamp forget, as the case may be, an incandescent lamp This light source can be controlled manually, programmed by an incorporated clock system or by a photoelectric cell.

The operating principle of the object of the present invention is described as follows: the photovoltaic sensor (s) (1 ensure during daytime charging and maintenance of an accumulator (2) intended to allow the lighting of a light source ( 3)
Intermediate between the sensor circuit and the accumulator, a charge controller-controller (4) can be interposed to save storage and guarantee its longevity mainly by strong sunshine or increased light. A fuse (5) will ensure the safety of the assembly which will be able to operate in total autonomy, automatic switching on and off, by means of a programmable clock (6) or a photoelectric cell.

The object of the present invention, in addition to allowing it to be placed in any place without distribution by electrical network due to its total autonomy and to provide comfort and security where lighting is problematic , impossible by conventional systems or temporary by the discharge of a non-regenerated accumulator, allows, in cases of use other than isolated sites, to remove the wiring and other excavations or trenches necessary for the installation of conventional devices powered by a network electrical source. It also authorizes the economy of energy which should be spent for the same purpose and under the same conditions by a conventional process.

The interest in the subject of the present invention is further increased by the fact of the speed of installation of such an apparatus, the immediate provision of a reliable and durable light source and its total lack of maintenance. Thanks to the object of the prayer
invention, it is now possible to mark up, illuminate, if

in the desert region, oases in the middle of the desert or even landing strips
