Abstract

The rotary motor or motor-compressor uses pistons instead of vanes, with a toric shape having a round profile. The pistons slide in annular chambers to allow the circular segments to engage support extensions with a curvature. The curved sections prevent the leakage of gases from combustion produced between the piston segments. The motor-compressor can use a similar piston-cylinder layout to use helium or a similar working gas. Single or double-effect cylinders can be used.
