Abstract

The machine has an unwinding drum carrying the core, the drum being carried on an axle fitted into a rotating yoke. The core is drawn off the drum by tracked rollers, and multiple conductors are drawn off bobbins and are wound round the core by the rotation of the receiving drum. The outer protective sheath is supplied through guides as a strip from a coil carried on a rotating table. As the receiving drum yoke rotates both conductors and sheath are tight wound round the core. The forward motion of the cable is aided by tracked rollers running on the section of cable having the conductors wound on but before the sheath is applied.
