Abstract

A dropping tube having a tubular body with a convergent outlet tip and an elastic squeeze bulb on the opposite end is provided with increased capacity by making part of the rigid body, adjacent to the bulb, longer in internal and external dia. The coaxial cylindrical sections, integrated end to end, are easier to fabricate than designs involving bulbous or other locally undercut profiles to increase the dropper capacity while retaining a standard, fine, tip profile. Opt. the larger part of the compound tube has an external annular rib at an intermediate level, for e.g. clamping to a container mouth.

Description

 The present invention relates to dropper of the type consisting of a pipette, one end of which is terminated by a capillary conduit pierced with a hole, while the opposite end is intended to receive a teat made of flexible and elastic material, for example rubber.

 Such dropper are very well known and are widely used, especially for taking drugs in liquid form.

 In certain specific applications, these dropper droplets are attached to the stopper of a bottle. The teats of such dropper generally consist of a body of generally cylindrical shape open at one end and the other end of which is terminated by a part in the form of a spherical cap.

 With such dropper, you can only take from a bottle and dispense at one time only a very limited volume of a product. Indeed, the volume sucked into the body corresponds substantially to the volume of the teat and the capacity of the latter is necessarily limited.

 It has been thought, in order to increase the volume capable of being drawn into the pipette, to make teats having a generally spherical shape. Such an achievement gave the expected results, however, it presented the drawback of enormously increasing the manufacturing price of the nipples, these being no longer demouldable since they are presented in conaredpouille.

 The present invention aims to improve dropper so as to produce such devices having only a large capacity as those known, and without increasing the manufacturing price thereof.

 The improvements, objects of the present invention, relate to dropper of the type comprising a pipette comprising a body with a dispensing end of smaller section than that of said body and at the end opposite to said dispensing end, a teat made of flexible and elastic material, said improvements being characterized in that the body of the pipette, at its end opposite to the dispensing end, comprises a part having a larger section than that of the body.

 Thanks to this arrangement, a teat of much larger volume than that normally used on dropper can be mounted on the part of the larger section terminating the pipette, said teat being able to be produced in a conventional manner to be demouldable, without the need for complex molds.

 According to a particular characteristic, the free end of the part of larger section than that of the body is terminated by a bead projecting from its external lateral surface and intended to facilitate the retention of the teat.

 When the dropper is intended to be fixed to a closure cap of a bottle, the part of larger section than that of the body may comprise at an intermediate point of its height, a flange extending in a plane substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the pipette and allowing the attachment of the dropper to a stopper.

The dropper shown in FIG. 1 comprises a body 1, the lower end of which is extended by a dispensing end 2, of smaller section than that of the body 1, while the end opposite to said end 2 is finished by a part 4 of larger section than that of the body 1, said part 4 having on its free edge, a bead 5. On the part 4 is mounted a teat 3 whose body 7 has a generally cylindrical shape with an upper end 8 in the shape of a spherical cap.

 It is understood that thanks to part 4 can be mounted on the pipette, a teat 3 having a larger diameter than the teats generally used, and thus, the dropper can have a greater capacity than the known dropper.

 FIG. 2 shows an alternative embodiment in which the part 4 is integral with a flange 6, so as to be mounted in a cap 9 intended to be screwed onto the neck II of a bottle 10.

 Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiments aui have just been described, nn can make numerous modifications to it without departing from the scope of the invention.
