Abstract

The solar powered water heater consists of a box (1) containing two or more modular reservoirs (2,3) interconnected by a tube (4). The space around the reservoir is filled with injected insulation. The tank (2) is supplied with cold water (10) and hot water is drawn off from the tank (3) through the connection (11). The solar panel (8) is mounted on slides (7) and can be tilted to face the sun. The cold feed to the panel is taken from the lower part of the tank (2) and the heated water is fed to the top of tank (3). A third tank can be interposed between the other two to increase the storage capacity.
