Abstract

An electric cable for high voltage applications, such as loads for fluorescent arc lamps, are built with an earthing layer comprising a sleeve of conductive mesh (II) between coaxial layers of electrical insulating material (I) and a protective sheath (III). Specifically claimed are leads where (I) is of polyethylene, (II) of copper and (III) of PVC. Lighter, in mass and opt. colour, and more flexible than conventional leads with lead sheathing, also cheaper and less hazardous to mfr. or joint. Pref. the polyethylene based insulation incorporates a fire-retardant, an UV-stabiliser and an antioxidant system.

Description

The invention relates to a flexible electric cable for high voltage.

This type of high-voltage electric cable applies in particular to the electrical supply of illuminated signs.

These light signs can be fluorescent tubes, the cable according to the invention is intended to connect said tubes of the sign to the transformer and to connect the tubes together.

Les câbles actuels présentent de nombreux inconvénients. Current cables have many drawbacks.

Current cables are composed of a copper core, a first polyethylene insulating sheath, a second vinyl sheath and finally a lead sheath.

Current cables provided with a lead sheath are therefore very heavy, hence the existence of a great difficulty in handling, laying, when the user is on a ladder or on a scaffolding to lay the cable.

The current cable is brittle when flexed during installation.

Cable is expensive because lead is expensive.

The cable, because of its lead sheath, is dark in color, so it can be seen in the sign.

Finally, there is a significant waste with regard to lead scraps which are often recovered and sold directly by the people in charge of the installation.

I1 existe donc un coulage de matière. I1 therefore exists a material flow.

L'invention évite tous ces inconvénients. The invention avoids all these drawbacks.

The diameter of the cable according to the invention is smaller, the weight of the cable is reduced by about a third.

The cable is flexible and the outer sheath can be of different colors so that it can be easily hidden.

The manufacturing cost is reduced by around 50% compared to the current cable port.

There is no longer a drop of material, since the lead sheath is removed.

The copper braid is easily connectable without welding or collar.

The electric cable for high-voltage, according to the invention, is composed of a copper core, formed of copper strands, of a first insulating sheath, of a braided sheath acting as ground. a mechanical protection sheath.

The copper core is formed by around thirty 0.2 mm copper strands.

The insulating sheath can be made of solid polyethylene which completely envelops the copper core. This sheath is self-extinguishing and resists ultraviolet.

The sheath acting as a mass can be a copper braid.

Finally, the mechanical protection sheath can be, for example, made of polyvinyl chloride. This sheath is self-extinguishing and resists ultraviolet.

The attached drawings given by way of indicative and non-limiting example will easily make it possible to understand the invention.

They represent a preferred embodiment according to the invention.

Figure 1 is a view of the current cable.

Figure 2 is a view of the cable according to the invention.

The current cable shown in Figure 1 is composed of a core 1, a first insulating sheath 2, a second protective vinyl sheath 3 and a sheath to act as a ground and protective sheath in lead 4.

The cable according to the invention, represented in FIG. 2, is composed of a copper core 5, of an insulating polyethylene sheath 6 which completely covers the core 5, of a braid acting as a mass 7 of copper and finally a mechanical protection sheath 8, for example made of polyvinyl chloride.

The flexibility of the cable according to the invention, its ease of installation and connection make it easy to understand the commercial and technical advantage that it can bring to installers of electrical equipment and in particular of illuminated signs.

The outer sheath 8, which has the function of mechanically protecting the cable, can be made of polyvinyl chloride.

The insulating sheath 2 which coats the core 5 of the cable can be made of polyethylene with a self-extinguishing component, a component making it possible to resist ultra-violet rays and an anti-oxygen.
