Abstract

The detector (1) senses acceleration and an amplifier (2) provides an input for a rejection filter (5) which allows the ignition knock signal to pass but which rejects frequencies below and above it. A speed sensor (12) coupled to the ignition system is connected to a processing circuit (11) which receives the output of the filter. This circuit comprises a monostable which short circuits the input to a rectifier (6a) for a defined time after each ignition pulse. The speed signal also controls the gain of an amplifier (6b) at the rectifier output to improve linearity for a reference signal (UR). This processing circuit prevents disturbances to the speed detector circuit from reducing the sensitivity of the system. The acoustic signal is also applied to a passband filter (3) in which the output pulses (UK) are compared (7) with the reference voltage. Any pulse exceeding the reference triggers a monostable (10) to produce ignition control signals.
