Abstract

A spectacle frame is assembled from two rigid mouldings where one forming the bridge and the top of each eyepiece has a central trapezoidal recess which accepts an undercut head at the centre of the second moulding which is shaped to support the underneath of each eyepiece. The ends of each moulding partly overlap and are joined by pins which also act as pivots for the sidearms. Suitable for mounting plastic or ceramic lenses without risk of loss due to flexing of the frame. Pref. the upper edge of the recess has an internal step to locate a corresp. lip on the tenon of the lower moulding. The recess may be open, and expose part of the tenon as a feature of the frame bridge.
