Abstract

The transparent bubble (1) is supported by a peg (3) on a work table, has lateral hand-holes (12), and is used to locate a workpiece during a machining operation. The bubble may incorporate a sump (5) which includes both a grid (6) and a filter (7). The sump may connect to a vacuum source (8) and the bubble may be of material which does not scratch. The bubble protects the mechanic from the inhalation of harmful dust and cuttings etc.

Description

 The present invention relates to instruments of the "workbench ankle" type of dental art, allowing the work of the prosthetist.

 In known devices of this kind, a dowel on which the manipulator operates is adapted to the workbench. Such devices are difficult and dangerous to use: in fact, during both manual and mechanical machining of dental prostheses, part of the waste and dust of the materials worked fall into a drawer placed under the ankle; even though the lightest residues and gases which are often toxic due to the materials and tools: employees are breathed in by the manipulator, a circumstance which in the medium term implies lung disorders and diseases.

 Other devices are also known in which a suction system is placed under the ankle, but these devices insufficiently absorb toxic waste and gases.

 The work bench peg according to the invention makes it possible to avoid these drawbacks. It is in fact surrounded by an adaptable support, surmounted by a scratch-resistant transparent bubble and laterally provided with hand passages, thanks to which the manipulator can work inside the bubble without having to breathe dust and toxic gases.

 Indeed, these solid and gaseous residues are contained in the bubble then aspirated towards a tank covered with a grid intended to retain the biggest waste, the dust being absorbed by a filter placed at the bottom of the tank, on a mouth of suction by means of which the gases are collected and treated in a filter bag located above a turbine at the origin of this suction movement.

 The accompanying drawing is a sectional view of the device when it is fitted to the workbench.

 As shown, the device comprises a transparent bubble (i provided with two hand passages (12) which rests on a support (2) adapted to the pin (3) of the workbench (4). Said support comprises a tank (5) covered at its top with a grid (6) and provided at its base with a filter (7) placed on the suction mouth (8). On the other hand, the suction mouth is connected by a collector (9) to a filter bag (10) attached to the turbine (11).

 The device which is the subject of the invention can be used for all workstations in which the handling of materials presents risks both of breathing solid and gaseous residues of said materials and of projection, for the manipulator. It can be used in the laboratory, in the medical and pharmaceutical field, in industry for artistic works or domestic uses.

 Particularly interesting applications can be found in both manual and mechanical manipulations, dental prostheses made at workbenches, dentistry.
