Abstract

The roller bearing has two rows of rollers (2) each running on a separate inner race (3). The rollers are contained in cages with a single outer race. The two inner races are assembled together using a steel or moulded plastics snap-on connecting ring (6). The connecting ring is cylindrical with the outer edges (7) turned inwards towards the axis to form a shallow U-section. The inner races (3) each have a machined groove (11) which provides the clearance into which the edges (7) of the connecting ring fit. Once assembled the bearing is not demountable.
