Abstract

Acoustic insulation screens of transparent or translucent glass or plastics materials are made as panels incorporating a stack of parallel profiles having a spiral cross-section. The screens may be used to cover walls or as pendant panels with spiral elements on one or both faces. Suitable for internal or external use, e.g. to block peak noise channels from airports, highways, dance halls etc. The sound is absorbed by a combination of progressive reflective interference and acoustic turbulence. The array of profiles may be backed by one or more layers of plane sheet. The ends of the spiral profiles pref. are boxed in. The internal surfaces of the spiral profiles may have a rough or ragged finish. No specific construction matls. quoted.
