Abstract

The mortuary block comprises a rigid, planar base which is pref. an absorbant, inflamable wood composition. To this is fixed a cellular block in which drain channels are cut to permit fluids derived from decomposition to flow out. Each cell of the block is covered by a highly absorbant carpet. The complete unit has a fluid capacity of between 8 and 30 litres according to size and the absorbant material has a depth of between 30 and 50 mm. The unit prevents external pollution or contamination and can be incinerated after use.
